Impulse and I played a game the other night and my Teemo lanemate was the epitome of all that is noob in this game.

1) Attack the full health enemy rather than the tower next to him? Check.
2) Continuously fall into the exact same trap and die over and over? Check.
3) Blame everyone but yourself? Check.

Haven't been having much luck with teammates lately. I've adopted the never rely on your teammates philosophy in solo queue and so only play carries. A perfect example was me going 10/2 and helping knock down all outer towers through L12 and ending up 12/8 at the end because my teammates just feed and can't pull their own weight.

The one thing that pisses me off the most is concentrating their tanks down instead of DPS/squishies. You're doing it wrong if after a losing teamfight their tank is the lowest health champ. Sometimes it's hard to get to them yes, so that's when you start flanking.

That's interesting, I played Teemo for the second time the other night (the first time was a total disaster and I ended up hating him, which surprised me since Trist is my main) and I was rocking and rolling. I was bot with a Lux and we worked so well together I bet the other side thought we were sitting right next to each other (we weren't) or had played together a lot (we hadn't, was solo queue). Push them back to their tower, pull back, lure with one (me) in the bushes, FB! Kill the other and swoop upriver to gank mid. Then head up top to save the tower!

Overall, it was one of the most enjoyable games I've had, and I was sad that it ended too soon and I couldn't finish my build (I had malady, the mage hat, boots and was halfway through PD when we ended). Was fun. I'll have to give him another try.

Teemo is one char I always thought would be fun to play that I haven't got around to. I guess I"m guilty of that though, I stick to 2-3 chars trying to get really good at them, but I'm not sure that works because team comp also makes such difference.

Played a game last night that started off very, very even. Both teams fighting pretty well and any kind of team fight was a push every time. Our eve spent a little too much time ganking for my taste and not enough time focusing towers, but then they couldn't really push towers either. Most of the fights took place round the bottom/middle lane, so our Sona that was up top stayed there and farmed up alot. That was fine, she woulda wasted more time trying to get to any skirmishes it wouldn't be worth it. When full team fights finally started, she had kinda low HP and wasn't really healing for too much. Didn't notice it as much at first, just attributed to her needing to spend a little gold to get some items. After the next time she went out however, I noticed both of these continued...and then she seemed awfully aggressive for a support character. If somebody attacked her, she would attack back, stun and actually try to kill them. Then I looked at her items...BF sword, phantom dancer, etc. etc. I was dumbfounded. I literally died in the middle of the jungle because I just sat there with my jaw dropped, type WTF in chat. Needless to say, we surrendered shortly after that.

Well i wouldn't say it is hard to play him but i will admit there is a little practice that you need to have ...

Yep and Yep. I will say that I usually lean toward not surrendering no matter what simply because I figure if we're doing that bad, we need the practice 🙂

Haha, good point!

I know what you mean. Only got one game in vs. AI last night, used Lux again and had a blast. The range on her laser is ridiculous, I got a double kill with it on two champs who were maybe 1/5 of the way across the middle lane (way out of view). There was only one other good player on my team, the other three guys were brand new to the game and made for a combined 0/54/10 (seriously). Near the end we were down 28 kills to 61 kills...and yet we won. The other good guy and I rallied up and sprinted to the enemy nexus. Took out the two towers and the nexus before they could react. Couldn't believe we won.

Still, I'd rather have awful noobie teammates who are good sports than one guy who thinks he's awesome and blames everyone else for doing awful. I played with a guy who was Olaf and went something like 4-21-6 and kept blaming me.

One thing that happens a lot that can be avoided is too many people going to the same lane. If you see 1-2 people already going to clear a creep wave in a lane, don't follow them unless there's an imminent threat from the other team of them jumping into the lane. Too often I watch as 3 people go to push back creeps in one lane and completely neglect the opposite lane. This happens a lot in the mid game phase, usually after a tower or two has fallen.

Not only does this give your opponents an opportunity to push, but it kills XP gain for you and your teammates which sets you back even more.

edit for VVVV: More common is the fight over mid and who gets it. IME, it's always the worse player of the two that stubbornly insists on staying and then ends up feeding.

Ha, in the game I played last night I was the first one out of the base when the game started. A teammate then followed me to the bottom lane.

Then two more guys joined us...

Yeah, the famous 0-1-4 lane setup.

Since Shen is free again playing him again, saving up to purchase him. I don't care if he's banned. My fall backs will be Amumu and Rammus.

But had a hilarious game, teemo afk'd the entire time so it was 4v5 from the start. Some how we get them to surrender at 20min. I can't describe the team fights great, but every time when I was like please guys B B B, they'd chase a lil, then retreat then the opposing team would over commit, I'd drive in to save people meanwhile our team would turn around, we'd all fight and every time we won the team fights. Only one guy on our team would die in the fight. Our Yi finished 21-1-2, I was 1-0-14 our Lux was 2-0-14 as well. I still am scratching me head on how we won, other then they were really bad.

It's very possible to win 4v5 *IF* the AFK happens right at the beginning. Your team winds up with a level advantage once you get in the 10-12 range. You have to win though before they catch up to you at 18. Once they do, game over unless they're complete idiots.

If the AFK occurs in the course of the game, it's much tougher. They've sucked up valuable XP and gold.

QFT

I've actually seen a 3v5 won this way (I wasn't playing, was watching my son and his friend play). Admittedly the 3 were playing *very* well and the 5...not so much, but they were able to push through with level advantage and won at around level 15. The 5 were very much WTF! in after game chat.

Played some great games last night, Zeb. When everyone can communicate over voice and knows how to play their role and when to act/not to act, it makes such a difference. We played one last game after you left, just me, Zirze and the other Z guy and pretty much rolled that game too.

I have to say, a well played jungle Eve can be devastating. It's just that most people that play her are absolutely terrible.

So was Rammus gifted to anyone who played in the Beta? I just found out a few weeks ago I got a sweet Bowser skin from Beta participation only to find out yesterday I actually own him.

Was he always free for beta testers? I could have sworn my champs owned page was empty awhile back.

Yep. All beta testers got Rammus and the Bowser skin. I don't think there's any other way to get it. The other freebie skins have been:

- Corki UFO skin was given away to every account when the UFO skin was released.
- Nightmare Cho'Gath skin for signing up for Alienware's site (or something like that)
- Tristana Riot Gear skin for friending Riot on Facebook (also if your account hasn't been active for a while, they've been sending out emails to play again and get it)

And of course you get the champ too in these deals since you can't have the skin without the champ.

How do you guys like to play Teemo? I'm doing well and having fun playing with an AD/AS/Critical build. My core items include the Berserker Greaves, 2 Phantom Dancers, and Infinity Edge. My other two items depend on the game, but I will often get Last Whisper (for armor penetration), Frozen Mallet, and/or Madred's Bloodrazor.

Assuming their armor isn't crazy high, I can chew threw a champion's health late game. DPS hovers around 1100-1200 when you factor in critical hits.

I'm no Teemo expert, but I spec masteries and runes towards AP with him, then build hybrid AS/AP in game. I weight somewhat more heavily towards AS, since I think only his Q and R scale from AP. I buy vamp scept, swiftness boots, malady, PD, Frozen Mallet, PD#2, Bloodthirster (never gotten that far...game usually ends about halfway through PD#2). Sometimes I switch up the order and go Frozen Mallet before the PD, and sometimes I build both PDs before the Frozen Mallet...just depends on what the other team is doing and what their team comp is.

I've also swapped out the FM for the mage hat and one of the PDs for another AP item...sometimes Archangels as well...I love leading someone like Yi or Tryn through a minefield of high AP mushrooms.

How does that work out for you? I see that a majority of the recommended builds I find online recommend an AP Teemo, but it just doesn't seem like his skills make AP worth it. His Q only does 260 damage (I think?) at max level plus 80% of his AP. Mushrooms can be quite deadly with high AP (700 + 80% AP), but I can't directly control when and if those hit enemies. Sure, I can place them extremely well, but it's possible they never get touched.

His Toxic Shot does fairly minimal damage at best, and the poison does not stack. Plus, it only adds 14% of the AP to it.

The large majority of Teemo's attacks are his auto attacks, and they're horribly weakened with an AP build. Sure, his skills are much stronger, but they have too long of a cool down. Even with CDR items, with an AD/AS/Crit Teemo, your regular attacks simply hit for more than you can get with an AP build and skills.

Granted, I'll admit that I've only tried AP Teemo once. These ideas aren't based so much on personal experience, but rather some basic calculations I've done (some on paper, some in my head). So, I could have it all wrong. I'm also a fairly low level, so runes and masteries don't do much for me yet.

I think I've only gone that build once, and that was because it was a team of 4 squishes and 1 bruiser (Tryn in this case) and I was able to rock their world with those shrooms (basically, just littered the weeds up top with them, bait tryn, lead him through weeds, turn around, finish him off). I like having a *little* AP (Malady) but most of my build is AD/AS/Crit. (PDx2, Bloodthirster, Malady, FM) and with all that run speed (swiftness, PDx2, active W) even slowed, I'm faster than most champs so survivability is good.

I'm still low-ish level as well (19, about 400 xp away from 20) and the one thing I can recommend most is don't bother with Tier 2 runes. Just get tier 1s and save up until you hit 20 and then stock up on Tier 3s. I saved up from about level 15-20 and I'll probably have 13k+ IP when I do hit, and I wish I'd saved longer instead of buying another champ. Oh well, I should have enough to get close to finishing out my Trist crit rune set.

I had some success as tank teemo the other day, i stacked 4 warmogs on him and ran around pissing the other team off to no end because they couldn't catch me and if they did they didn't hurt me too much. Plus the shrooms got on their nerves.

On the negative side i was less than useless for dishing out damage which my own team regularly slandered me for 😀

On the whole tank teemo was a fail but it was fun to try.

Thanks for those games. I had fun though I wasn't playing very well, having to AFK early game as xin really hurt the leveling though we did come back in the end (made all the more epic since they called for us to surrender). I tried a 13/9/8 mastery setup (plus dodge runes of course) and I wasn't disappointed. I think you can do almost anything as Xin and be ok. I've goe 14/16 (for Veterans), 1/21/8 and even 15/0/15 .... he's such a solid champ that once you have your doran's shield he's got great harassing ability.

I'm still terrible with any type of carry despite lots of trying. I've had some success with AP TF but he isn't very good late game so I've been trying hybrid with the option to buy a late game AD item after sheen, boots, and guinsoos rageblade and usually a Nashor's. My main problems are twofold, 1. you have to be in close to autoattack and secondly you must reliably pull the gold card. I'm getting better at the second, but TFs pathetically low HPs means that any sort of focus and he goes down so you really have to keep your distance.

I just installed this game yesterday and have a few questions....

I guess this game is free but, you only can access the default 8-10 (i didnt count) heroes until you either A) Play 1000000 million hours or B) Purchase new ones?

Does anyone know or have a list of good strong heroes that should be purchased then? I dont know how this is going to work but I am not paying money to buy a hero. Ill have to earn them I guess. Anyone know the goods ones I should focus on buying?

There are no "default" champions, per se. The free champ lineup changes from week to week. My suggestion would be to play the free champs for a few weeks to figure out which ones you like, then buy those, OR if most of them are available in one of the "collector packs" (usually ~20 heroes) buy that for $20 or so.

Also, you can get Tristana for free (along with her "Riot Girl" skin) by "liking" League of Legends on Facebook. Link to instructions how to do so.

You have to play 10000000000 hours to unlock all the heroes without paying, but to get a good group of heroes it doesn't take long at all. You can purchase them as well (I bought the retail game for $20 which comes with 20 heroes and more), but you can do just fine with the weekly freebies + a few.

The cheap 450 IP heroes are pretty good, especially Ashe. Sivir, Master Yi and Nunu are also good and cheap. A step up from that would be the 1350 IP champs and there's several goodies in that bunch (Ryze, Annie, etc).

For a reference, playing a "normal" game and winning lands you anywhere from 150-250 (or so) IP, and there's also the 150 IP "first win of the day" bonus.

I too am a noobie and haven't had trouble getting into the game. My buddy started just the other day and didn't buy the retail game and is enjoying it just as much as I am.
