Anyone seen release notes yet? Apparently Malphite gets a buff and heimer a nerf. I would be really excited if I could break Malphite out. He's been so weak for soooo long that I almost forgot I owned him. I know that once upon a time he was a semi-decent jungler.

Any thoughts on the current state of the meta game? The last couple of patches have moved away from heal/harrass comps toward massive CC / AoE and I'm wondering if the nerf bat will allow us to ban someone other than Heimer. I would love to ban CC tanks, Rammus, Amumu, Shen and maybe Galio and see how the game turns out (unfortunately too many people can't deal with shaco so at my level he's still likely to get banned).

o Changed the active effect to increase Malphite's armor and damage by 20/25/30/35/40% instead of increasing his damage by 30/40/50/60/70%
o Cooldown reduced to 16 seconds from 20 seconds
o Fixed a bug where the cleave percent would take double the amount of bonus attack damage
o Passive cleave percent increased to 30/38/46/54/62% from 30/35/40/45/50%
o The cleave passive will no longer proc while hitting towers
* Ground Slam
o Mana cost reduced to 60 at all ranks from 60/70/80/90/100
o Updated the tooltip to display how much bonus damage Ground Slam gains from armor
* Unstoppable Force is now unstoppable and cannot be interrupted by disables
* Granite Shield (passive)
o The shield now recharges after 8 seconds instead of 10 seconds
o The shield will now automatically restore to full after 8 seconds of not being hit. Previously it would not replenish until a new shield activated
o Fixed a bug where the shield particle would not appear for a second after the shield activated
o Fixed a bug where the shield strength would not update after buying a health item until a new shield activated

I tried out Malphite with an absolutely terrible team and despite their KogMow having 15 kills when teamfights started I still ended up 6/5/7 while tanking. He's a lot easier to play now and I attribute that to the better cooldowns.

Secondly I played a 'all mid' practice game as Udyr... wow that man/beast/monkey can kick ass and take names. I may have to give him a trial run as the combination of Magic dmg, AD dps, shield/leech and stun with huge HP makes for a very versatile character (he was very weak and out of mana early, but with a locket.... wow).

If you don't care if you win or lose, and when someone says WE NEED A TANK when 4/5 players have locked in and in spite you pick evelynn :sneaky: and just have fun screwing around (and maybe winning) look me up.

I don't mind getting on TS or Vent either.
 
I am back on a terrible streak in this game. so Frustrating. When I find the rare case to not land on a team with Whiners and leavers then I start playing dumb and still lose. 🙁

Heh I played a ranked game yesterday and the picks for my team went Vlad (calls mid), Ryze , Maplphite (me - I'll tank), then we get to where the last two are picking.
Summoner 5: "We need dps" and picks Zilean.
Summoner 4 picks Morgana and 5 flames 4.
Me: "5 why don't you run dps".
Summoner 5: "but I'm pro Zilean" (he died 4 times while laning because he kept pushing and Zilean is squishy).

Sigh, in order to play ranked, you really should able to run at least 4 different toons well (AP, AD, Tank, beefy offtank/anticarry) if not 2 of each of these.

Personally I will play any of: Morgana, Amumu, Malphite (tank or DPS), Galio (AP or tank), Nunu (Ap, tank or offtank), Garen, Nasus, Sion (AP, AD or hybrid), Annie, Karthus (if free), Pantheon, Tristana, Udyr (if free), Soraka. If you plan to play ranked and don't play a plethora of characters I highly recommend you start... (yes you will suck your first game or two: one practice game, move to normal where you can fuck around, then play ranked).


I am thinking that after Shaco/heimer got smacked down with the nerf bat, Kog'Maw & Amumu need to be the main bans.


Edit: If you're going to play ranked, please please please please please please learn to last hit rather than spamming abilities to farm/push (this means you Morgana, Nasus, Zilean etc.).
 
If I were ever to play ranked (or with friends) I would care what character I pick to balance the team. But as it stands in normal games (from what I've seen) someone is going to complain no matter what you pick or how well you do.

Partly why I don't play ranked actually, people get mad enough in normal, don't need to add the fluctuating ELO into the mix 😛

I think I had the worst solo queue experience in a long time last night.

My team: Garen (me), Udyr, Ashe, Mundo, Twitch.
Them: Nunu, Jax, Galio, TF, and Morde

Udyr doesn't jungle. Ashe starts out with a Rejuv pendant and then rushes a Phantom Dancer, so she can attack really fast but they have 4 beefy HP guys and her attacks are literally not making a dent in them. No one on my team had more than 2 kills other than me. Didn't knock a single tower down. Surrendered at 25.

So after quitting for a half hour in disgust, I come back and get back in the masochistic solo queue again. This time the exact opposite happens and my team absolutely steam rolls the opposition. While it was a relief, it's not that fun when you're dishing out a pounding like that and it's especially not fun when you're on the receiving end.
 
After getting frustrated solo queuing and making my smurf, I saw both ends of the spectrum:

1st game: Against a premade smurf team. 2 of my teammates were first time players. One couldn't figure out how they kept finding him in the jungle because he didn't know you could have wards. 2 others rage quit (not the jungle guy, I gave him so tips and he was very thankful).

2nd game: 2 of my team was premade... and immediately dropped the game, so it was a 5v3. We still ended up winning, with all 3 of us going 15-2 or some such. Took forever since it was hard for us to push. I was fiddle: fiddle is OP while smurfing.

However, the one thing I really enjoy is I can play ANY hero I want... and not get bitched out because I'm not doing great. There are a few heros that I'd like to try on my main, but don't want to ruin games testing them.

Some of the best heroes for smurfing are terrible at high levels too. Like Eve.

Don't worry, the Riot algorithms for sniffing smurfs out are pretty good. Won't be long until you're matched vs other smurfs exclusively. I won something like 10 games in a row, and ever since I hit 1500 or so elo it's been an enjoyable experience playing with others of my skill level.

Unlike my L30 where it's stomp or be stomped, with nothing in between.

I gotta say I didn't realize how bitter many people are about the Level30 game. While I do have bad 25 minute surrenders I mostly have good games nowadays. I just tend to complain about the bad games more than talk about the good ones.

My biggest problem was too many of the games were decided within 15 minutes. I'm enjoying learning to play new champs, since most on my main are AD or tanks. So far though, the teammates are mostly much "nicer". If you die, oh well. They'll ask for help if they are unsure of things, and won't massively shit talk someone who isn't doing well. Only person I've had talking trash was the three man premade smurf... who coincidentally took 40 minutes to win a 3v5 (not for lack of trying).
 
so ever since they nerfed heimer everytime i pick him ppl question my choice. but it can still out push about every character including sivir in mid plus my bomb is hurts like nothing else. i go for the angel - angel - zhongya build.
 
I didn't think the nerfs were that drastic to him. Heimer wouldn't be getting his 3rd turret until L7, at which time any good Heimer has already pushed his tower with just two. The nade nerf makes a little difference, but I think the AP ratio buff offsets the no building damage nerf. If you're good with hitting the enemies with it then you'll force them to play more defensively which allows you to push up the lane with your turrets.

I think a turret progression of 1/1/2/2/2 would make him more balanced and less of a monster pusher.

Ugh horrible experience last night. My team:
1.Shen ( me )
2.Garen
3.Morgana
4.Tryndamere
5.Singed

Their Team:
1. Twitch
2. Shaco
3. Olaf
4. Eve
5. Tristana ( I think )

So I am thinking easy win. As long as our team is careful early, and remotely smart to get wards this is an easy team to counter.

Singed and I top lane are doing fine and we have Shaco jungling and coming in for occasional gank attempt. I think Singed died once and I killed them twice.

Unfortunately all I see going on in the other lanes is twitch and eve racking kills and turrets falling.

We were down like 4-9 in kills. I tried to explain to the team it wasnt a big deal as long as we played defensive and got oracles and stuck together. But no, they continue to die then when it gets to something like 5-11 then our Garen quits. And Tryndamere keeps thinking he can run off solo against a stealth/dps team. SIGH.

we go obliterated by a team we should of been able to roll very easily.
 
Heh, I only just made this connection and thought it was funny. Mordekaiser, the Master of Metal. His abilities are all names of, or close to, songs by metal bands.

turned 2 games around with sight ward at baron this past weekend. We were losing the team fights however we guarded our turrets well, and once we caught them at baron's we rally to down their inhibitor and then it's GG. Also sealed the deal once as an already winning team jumping on the defenders trying to turn things around doing baron with just 3 people.
 
I finally bought Kog'Maw and he's pretty nasty. Trying to figure out a good build and weight the pros and cons, because he looks like he can be built either way.

AD - Does more base damage. A Bloodrazor increases ASPD and will stack with W to hit for 10% max HP per hit at top rank. Makes his Q more impactful. E and R do anemic damage.

AP - Rylai's is a must and makes your W buffed attacks slow, improves your E's slow, and of course R slows too. This amounts to no escaping (short of a blink) when someone gets in your range. E + R will also clear an entire creep wave in 2 seconds making AP Kog a monster farmer. R hits like a truck when maxed. With enough AP, you'll get enough bonus on your W to equal getting a Bloodrazor.

Haven't tried any AD yet, even though that's supposedly the stronger of the two? But for AP I've been going:

Tears -> Archangel
Boots
Rageblade
Rylai's
Zhonya's (don't usually complete this)
 
The bloodrazor Kog'Maw build is atrociously strong since his remake last patch. He simply gets tons of AP and does a huge % damage per attack. A starks or last whisperer on top of that and you win.
 
That's why I'm thinking AD is currently superior. His abilities are strong enough on their own, especially Bio-Arcane Barrage, that he doesn't need much more in the way of damage to be a terror. So he can instead focus on survivability which is something he really needs. With AP, you don't have that luxury really.

It's a shame though because it basically means Kog is just another auto-attack champ right now. E for slow, Q, then W and auto-attack away. R just gets in the way and is useless for anything but scouting.
 
in AP kog i get nashor's

nashor's seems really good on him with all the stats he needs, and that cooldown reduction is hilarious, you get your R down to 0.6 with blue buff

then I just spam that while letting tanks hold them off and I've gotten quite a few triple kills as the team trys to run from a failed 5v5 engagement at low health
