It's possible to get a comeback on TT if the opposing team is pure gank and low push. I've had several games where we turtled with our last remaining 3 turrets, running between them fast enough to defend vs the alternating creep waves. Opponents made the first mistake, got aced, and we took their inhibitor instead. Second run to take out the other, then it's all over.

A good shaco using invisiflash to escape rather than initiate is horrifying on TT. Since gold is rare early on everyone gets stingy and very few can justify buying a ward, never mind oracle. Even eve can do well on TT early on, but like SR will usually stay stealthed until a gank is assured, making most fights 2 vs 3 -- a much worse proposition than 4 on 5. Sure, Eve might get fed but the other two doing the heavy lifting starve and become easy targets.

Yet another OP champ released. While the latest patch nerfs Xin, they also released their first vamp. The first one I played against on TT wasn't so bad (probably cause we were winning). The scond one (on SR) however I didn't face until we were level 14 and he had 4xxx hp and 200+AP; Combine that with the ability to burst huge damage (think 1/3-1/2 of my 2400 hp with one ability) and an ability to ignore turrets...

I'm of the opinion that all toons need a 1 patch break in before their allowed to be used in ranked games. I suspect that they get less focused testing than they need and they come out too strong early on both by design (to sell new toons) and because the first time or two using a champ is usually very rough and without an additional 15+ games to average out those results they're going to be hugely powerful. I mean burst + tank + buying hp gives ap and buying AP gives HP coupled with lifesteal spells and a 2.5 sec form that does damage and can't be targeted (and can be used to dodge otherwise un-dodge-able attacks)??? really riot, who thought this one through???

It's all about sales. OFC new guys are going to be over the top OP on release -- why else would people cough up cash when they can just keep playing whatever they're good with instead?

Any team captain NOT banning the freshest guy needs to have their head examined. That's the same effect as a 1 week cooling off period, although normal games will suck.

Played Xin on my smurf and he didn't seem nerfed at all. The slide in/AoE 25% HP off/knock up most annoying target play style worked about as well as before.

Let's not exaggerate too much guys. Not every new hero release has been an OP one. Malzahar was extremely underwhelming. Gragas was just as terrible. Kennen wasn't as bad but still not balanced. Heimer was really bad when first released. Garen, Olaf, Morde, Akali, and Kog'Maw were all close to if not well balanced. The only new release heroes you can say were OP at release were Shen, Ez, Xin, and maybe Shaco. I've heard people going both ways on Vlad and I didn't get to play last night so haven't seen him in action myself.

I played again and a with/against vald game and IMO he isn't really OP. he lacks the serious CC to be a really good tank type, which ppl seem to build him. Xin on the other hand, man he's still tough to go against.

Garen with his like 10 second silence wasn't OP on release? Morde was awesome compared to the competition when released. All recent champs except Failzahar were immediately in the top or second tier on release overall, and OP situationally.

Play against the new guy piloted by someone with a clue, or even without clue 3v3. You'll change your tune. Ranged harass on a tank + tower dive at will means complete solo lane ownership early on. How many other ranged, magic damage dealing tanks can do that? There are very few typical mids he won't be sending to base over and over and over by level 6.

And by the time he's gorged on mid gold he's got enough burst damage to rival ranged carries but without the squishy issues and a built in escape which deals AoE damage. You HAVE to focus him, or else.

Imagine a Fiddlesticks that can instantly ult while becoming invulnerable (plus 3x the HP otherwise). Does lack of personal CC really matter?

Like Xin, he can get enough burst DPS to make people sit up and take notice. But unlike Xin he's got a built in escape and immunity to towers. He's definitely the new OP facing anything but a 5x hard CC opponent team -- but then again, a 5x hard CC team will flatten anyone.

And don't get me started on getting his Soul Stealer + Leviathan max stacked. If you feed him at all it's worse than over.

I've been playing for 2 days so I'm pretty new, just tried y first normal game with tristiana though and really, it's not even fair. I went 12/2/7 and at the end i was doing 2v1 double kills withing 30 seconds.

Anyone have any tips for playing her and why do more people not use her on this board? Is there a better character I can buy for massive ranged dps?

if u want massive range DPS all the time then trist is the way to go. if u want even more massive range DPS in group fights then there's twitch with his aoe range ult. and if u want to have a little bit more crowd control get ashe. if u want more map control get teemo. if you like to gank people get twisted fate. if you want to push creeps hard and love to support people get sivir.

i think we seldom talk about these champ is because they are pretty simple to play with and sometimes easier to play against.

My suggestion for tristana is to know how much her ult is going to damage the enemy and save it for last. nothing pisses people more off than trist pushing people further from their reach when they are chasing.

I personally love Tristana, however recent champions have great range or an ability to very quickly close the distance and tristana really lacks CC.

Tips:
A)Strongly consider exhaust and the mastery to improve it. This can both prevent people from escaping ganks as well as be used to escape ganks (the blind is more important than the slow often).

B) Her jump is excellent and you should usually get one point at second level then save leveling it up until everything else is maxed out. This keeps the mana cost low. It should then be used to catch runners (if you know it's safe) or to escape ganks but almost never used to initiate (unless your team outnumbers the opponent). Jumping into a crowd is a good way to die.

C)exploding shot is a great laning tool just for it's harassment factor.

D) if people push your turret too much, a good trick is to jump behind and use 'R' to knock them into the tower.

E) Quick shot 'Q' is expensive so I level it after 'E' but 1 point can make you really start to destroy towers if the enemy isn't in position to stop you.

F) Items: Doran's shield is a great starter item. After that boots1 and save for your bf sword then some lifesteal. At this point you'll dish huge damage and farm like a champ. If you can't save for a BF Sword the pickaxe does a decent job at half the cost.

G) Wards in the bushes can save your life.

Honestly at this point it doesn't matter who you play, it's just important to learn the mechanics and get a good feel for when to fight and when to run.

My solo queue ELO is 950 but my arranged team ELO is 1300. And no, I am not carried by better players. 😛 For instance, last night I went 9/4/15 as Taric and still lost because I got matched with a worthless Panth (1/7) and Xin (8/12).

One game last night as Ashe I'm mid against Ez. Early game, we're both harassing each other and farming and we're both hovering around half health. As soon as I hit 6, I of course go for the kill with arrow but he gets away with blink. A minute later, he comes after me - blink attack, flux, mystic shot into his ult. I was running in the same direction the entire time but as he started channeling his ult, I turn around and move to the side and start icing him. Ignite and two shots later he's dead. I love outmaneuvering players like that.

If you didn't know already, this weekend is a double IP/XP weekend.

Man, playing in the solo queue seriously makes me feeling like im gambling IRL $$. It's a total crapshoot and you can go on these crazy streaks.

950? >_< I'll be playing a lot of SC2 this weekend, but hit me up to duo queue and perhaps I can help get you out of there.

You sound like me. You seem understand the game mechanics, flow, and how to team play. People like ourselves are great team players, we're never (or rarely are) the weakest link. Yet, I'm usually not good enough to carry hard unless miraculously the guy(s) I'm up against in lane are the enemy team's weakest link, and with the whole new ELO reset of S1, it's hard for the guys who aren't hard carries to win when you have terrible teammates.

Does duo queuing count as solo queue or something?

I know right now it's a crap shoot as to what kind of teammates you get, but I don't always want to sit around waiting for 4 other people I know to sign on. Or sometimes I just want to play alone. Guess I should just play a normal game in those instances.

yes, duo puts you in the solo queue (only applicable to SR, TT requires a full team)

You are able to queue up for ranked games with one other person for 5v5 Solo Queue ladder.

I was stuck bouncing between 1200-1300 for like 20 games until I figured this out.Play with people you know are really good from normal games but are also were stuck in crappy ELO games because of bad teammates.

Heimer was really bad when first released.
I haven't played this game since around the first week of release, and I'm bored waiting for a game to DL so I visited this thread.

Heimer was way way way OP until they nurfed him if you had teammates with you designed to exploit how Heimer works. Like it wasn't even close to not being OP, the ONLY way you could lose was to a twitch backdoor if you knew what the hell you were doing with him and had the right team to back you up.

so i bought shaco, and having a hard time getting the number of kill other people are getting, i was even, but weren't the kind of massively positive that ive seen

Shaco is not too difficult to play once you figure him out.

He is an amazing initiator, as you have 4 seconds of stealth from his Deceive. Deceive in, JACK IN THE BOX (does not reveal you), and then attack. I see soooo many noobs deceiving in and attacking without casting JITB first, usually you want it in back of where you estimate they will run to.

Also, I see a lot idiots Q (deceive) in just to get kills and let themselves be killed, as shaco is very squishy. In team fights, I like to save Q as an escape or to chase as the dust is clearing.

If you read quite a few pages back, a few of us have written a bunch of shaco tips and suggested items, including how to jungle. Sheen works well, infinity edge, madreds (if jungling), sunfire cape, lifesteal, guardian angel, and banshee's is a situational favorite of mine as well.

Another important point in playing shaco (and other characters as well) is learning WHERE the boundaries of line of sight are. If you deceive too close, the enemy can sometimes see the "poof" of smoke from the bushes or wherever you last were and may start to expect a gank.

I am on a terrible streak. Winning like 1 out of every 3 games. I have played Shaco a ton and know him as well as anyone but I am having a much harder time lately as him or any light-dps type champ so....not sure if it is me or the game.

Anyway, you can either build him for AD or AP. Either can work really well but have different playstyles. You can actually build him as a bit of a hybrid too.

I go for AD in most cases.

Use Crit and cooldown runes. Fortitude runes are also ok ( for any champ this is true. more health is very useful early game from runes).

As with any champion, take a look at your opposition. you can alter your build slightly depending if they are squishy casters or tanks. For high dps / casters look at Wits End and and Guardian Angel. If you see lots of tanks think about last whisper and sunfire cape.

For every game however I either start with reg boots or I go saphire crystal. Grab early Golem buff will help you hang in the lane for a few levels. Best boots I think are mobility however sometimes I get beserker greeves. Now build sheen. Your next item should be an attackspeed/crit item. Wits End, Last Whisper or Phantom Dancer are all good choices.

Now comes the part that I see most Shaco players ( even experienced ones ) neglecting to buy and that is Sunfire Cape and Guardian Angel. Why is this so important? Because your duplicate gets the effect too.

Nothing like harrasing your opponent, watching them finally kill your duplicate, then he REZES, they kill again. then you attack, they kill you and now you REZ. ROFL. Only thing is these are late game items as you want to prioritize DPS.

The reason people think Shaco is OP or top tier is he ganks stupid people with rediculous ease. However it takes extreme patience and skill vs a good team. Cant tell you how many times I have DPS up the wazoo but I am dead before it matters. VS A good team you will have to stack JIB, rely on halucinate and only attack people that are fleeing / no health. Unfortunately then your team will hate you because you arent attacking so on bad teams you will find yourself DYING alot or farming minions. So in this case, hang back, farm drop Jib and wait for the opening. Previous poster mentioned saving decieve for escape and this is wise for surviveability. Only problem is you lose one of your best moves and that is the damage boost from sheen/decieve backstab.

Extremely fun champ to play. Easy to pick up difficult to master is a bit cliche but is true with Shaco.

Im still trying to master 🙂

man i suck hard lol, i could pick up gank plank and taric in like 3-5 games but it's the 3rd game with shaco and i still havent had a clue lol. it's gonna be a feed fest for a while.

Finally starting to right the ship and have been going on a run of ranked wins. I've gone 10-2 with Taric and it feels good. I was surprised when I got a few comments from my random teammates that it was good to play with someone who finally knew how to play Taric. I didn't know it was possible to mess up his play style. I guess not using his ult at all/at the right times?

But yeah, it's awesome being a support tank and I've ended every game with more kills than deaths and a huge tally of assists.

Honestly, if I didn't play Taric he would be my ban pick over Soraka. I think he brings way more utility to a team than Soraka can. His heal is better on the target until Rank 5 when they equalize, but really is always better since he also heals himself. Shatter is basically Soraka's Starcall with less range plus the armor buff from her heal but with way more uptime. A stun is obviously superior to just a silence. Taric doesn't have any mana regen for teammates, but a good Taric should be carrying a Clarity. And Radiance is an AOE physical DPS buff which translates into faster takedown of enemies in teamfights which means taking less damage that needs healing.
