Teenagers do not have full development of the part of their brains that assesses risk. They are not physically capable of dealing responsibly with this kind of mature subject matter.

Science does still trump every other consideration, does it not?

But I'm sure if the play had mock violence (fighting, swords, guns) you wouldn't even bat an eye.

Gotta love American morals.

I'm fairly sure the HS students watching the play are well acquainted with sex, LGBT, etc. This play isn't going to emotionally scar or damage them.

If it was being performed for elementary, I'd be siding with the grandpa and you. A case could be made for Junior High students too.

You see, here's where you're wrong. Sixone tells us that teenage brains are not properly developed enough to handle risk, so the only solution is to bubblewrap them and force them to watch Disney.

Thus, of course, preventing their brains from actually developing to the point where they can process risk.

Because emotions are risk. Love is risk. Everything is risk.
