If you were only half so clever as you obviously think you are, you might have been able to concoct an intelligent post for that space.

This is a thread about Obernutmoron...intelligence and his name do not below in the same vicinity.

the Politico article on the subject seemed to suggest that there were a myriad of reasons NBC/Universal wanted to dump Olbermann, and this violation of their policy just provided the excuse.

But as the news of Olbermann’s suspension sunk in, media critics saw a variety of motives at play – everything from corporate nervousness over the network’s new liberal tilt to longstanding tension between Olbermann and Griffin, the temperamental star and the boss who had to deal with him.

Some saw in MSNBC’s latest move corporate fears about appearing too liberal, which were being exacerbated by NBC Universal’s pending takeover by Comcast.

Michael Wolff wrote at Adweek that the pending merger -- which, if it is approved, will coincide with the stepping down of NBC Universal president and chief executive Jeff Zucker – is the true reason for the power shift behind Olbermann’s suspension.

Well since you're a Republican (else why would you be listening to Fox?), congrats on the elections!

I don't listen to Fox, did they at least give me credit?

Yup! Full blown splash screen and all.:p

No repub here...I'm independent, as I have both liberal and conservative leanings. The only time I watch Fox is when I want to know who their sponsors are or as I'm flipping channels I get a glimpse of the Fox crew making an interesting spectacle of themselves, so I pop a bag of popcorn, pop a brewski, post-process pictures on one PC while I defrag and/or maintain a couple of others and evaluate which of the Fox crew are trying their hardest to land a movie deal or at least a role in a TV series other than the ones they're playing at Fox News.

Beck tries too hard, O'reilly is old news and his style is old news, Hannity is shallow, cannot emote and not at all convincing, overall, just bad acting on Fox News but comical nontheless. It's alot like watching soaps.

Some repubs that won I liked, others I despise, same with the dems.

I wonder what MSNBC's reaction would be if it was found out that a host of theirs donated to Republican candidates.

It might not be as bad as if Fox finds out one of theirs is secretly donating to the Dems. :]

My first impression was that this is just silly. Olbermann does opinion, not unlike Hannity or Rush. To refer to them as impartial journalists is wildly incorrect.

I'm now seriously questioning the intelligence and judgement of the MSNBC management. Apparently, even though they're in the industry/business, they do not know the difference between straight up journalism and opinion. Even worse is prospect they may actually believe Olbermann is a journalist.

MSNBC new president F'head is just adjusting their lineup portfolio to pave the way for Comcast to buy them out. Then you guys will all be happy. There will be no more left views on the airways. Comcast is owned privately by a conservative family in Florida.

I'm sure you all will still be spewing about the liberal bias in the media, lol, if it doesn't tow the Faux News extrem right wing line.

You still have CNN. They lean left, just not as raging left as MSNBC. Plus, nobody watches MSNBC so its not like its a huge deal.

Like I said since CNN doesn't tow the Faux News extreme right wing line, you consider them to be left leaning.

I hope you enjoy never having to hear an opinion different from your own on TV anymore.

Fox gets about triple the numbers of MSNBC. You know what that means? If 3 million people were watching FoxNews, a million would be watching MSNBC.

The "nobody watches" rhetoric is just your own desire to overstate the irrelevance of MSNBC. Which if they were so unimportant why would you expend so much effort to repeat that over and over and over.

And over and over.

Why anyone gives a shit about TV ratings... ugh.

If, as you say, MSNBC's president is adjusting their lineup prior to a Comcast takeover, why would they give a new show to Lawrence O'Donnell at night? It doesn't add up. Lawrence is a bright guy (he wrote & produced The west Wing for e.g.) but he is decidedly liberal in his views.

If I'm not mistaken, MSNBC gets higher ratings than CNN.
in fairness, just about every channel gets higher ratings than CNN ;)

cable news as a whole seems to get outsized publicity devoted to it, though, considering how their ratings are dwarfed by local and network news.
