Oklahoma Frat Boys Caught Singing 'There Will Never Be A ****** In SAE'

I think SAE operates similar to Uber. There is the organization (main), but each SAE chapter maintains their own operation. So when the question was posed to the CEO "Is this a SAE chapter song?" he said NO. (That's correct probably).

SAE might not have any control over each and every individual thing each chapter does?

Let's rephrase the statement: there is no way the other members of OU's SAE chapter did NOT know that song. I'm not sure how they reconcile these songs with black members though, because there are black alumni of SAE@OU.

I don't disagree....

Oh and speaking of Texas, here are some fraternity pledge rules at UT:

Well I thought they must be some real fucking sensitive compensating pathetic douchebags but then I realized that they could not even wear their own state hat so I think that might be way too much of a compliment for them.

It's the south, not surprised.

I'm surprised to see people claiming Oklahoma is a "Southern State". I guess, yeah, like New Mexico is a Southern state. But Southern state usually means part of the Confederate, and they certainly weren't.

Alabama had an issue a little while back where a black girl with impeccable grades/student body president and was the daughter of a congressman was denied entry into Alabama's Sororities because the Sororities weren't integrated still? She probably would be president at any of these sororities if she were white. Meritocracy is a laughing stock.
-snip-

Please explain to me how a black girl who probably outshines every other white girl getting into a sorority can be denied by every single sorority she rushed if racism is just an isolated issue?

Grades?

I don't think grades have squat to do with getting into the vast majority of frat/sorority. I've only ever heard of one that paid much attention to grades. There are the honorary societies that focus almost exclusively on grades, but those are altogether different.

Yeah, like New Mexico, Arizona and CA. So what? What's the point of mentioning it if it pertains soley to geography? When did the practice of noting a states geographical location for no real reason begin?

Oklahoma was an indian territory back then.

Culturally Oklahoma is a Southern State. It wasn't a state during the Civil War of course, but when the land rush hit most of the people who settled there were from Southern States (like adjacent Arkansas). My parents are both from Oklahoma. My mom told me she remembered seeing "Colored Only" "White Only" drinking fountains and restrooms. in Oklahoma City. Black kids did not attend the same schools as whites back then (although Indians did).

But yeah, its definitely a Biscuits and Gravy, Bible Belt kind of place... just with a slight Midwest tinge.

They weren't because the area wasn't a state yet. In the time since it certainly has filled the role of 'Southern State' particularly as relates to race relations.

No point in other SAE chapters moping. May as well push their volunteer work towards black charities like needle exchanges, food banks, victims of gun violence, big brothers, etc. and wear letters while they do it.

Given how many chapters there obviously are it will be interesting to see how many do something like that and how many do nothing at all.

Thanks.

I haven't spent any real time there, just passed through. Seemed like a 'cowboy' state, not a Southern state. Seemed to get pretty dang cold to be considered Southern too.

Probably like Texas and considered both a Southern and Plains state or something.

Texas is just Texas. There's no place like it. We've got snow in the north, a dessert in the west, hills in the middle, an ocean to the southeast, 3 out of 10 of the most populous cities in the country, and the income inequality of China.

The battle of Glorieta pass was an important battle during the civil war that took place in the New Mexico territory does that mean that New Mexico is a southern state?

Even Florida gets down to freezing sometimes. Just because a state is southern doesn't mean it's always warm in the winter.

That reminds me, I need to travel a bit more in TX off the 35 corridor.
