Back during the whole Unreal Tournament 2003 debates on what was the best course (over at INA) to buy a Rad9700P or wait on NV30 I was one of the people who felt that I would wait because my Nvidia card was doing great and Ive always had a bad taste in my mouth for ATI due to a rather wicked integrated graphics chip on my old pc. Anyway.... WHY AM I STILL WAITING FOR THIS DAGGON CARD! The ATI solution has been out for... what like half a year already now?

I bet this is one of the thousands of posts like this on this forum... dont know, this is my second post. Im new yes... N00b.

You know... Maybe I should stop waiting for this GeForce FX... after the preview it got from this site and others, it doesnt seem to be worth it anyway. Perhaps I should just get the Hercules version of the upcoming R350. Seems ATI has their business together and Im at least gauranteed the best DVD playback. ....come on Nvidia... might as well go straight to NV35 and ditch their whole FX 1st gen flagship.

even if they've started selling it, it doesn't seem to be in stock anywhere....

Here in the midwest we dont get dookie...(maybe Chicago) as far as store stocked enthusiast items. So basically I shop new egg and so far its just been constantly sold out PNY's and EVGA's and personally Im looking for an MSI/Chaintech/Leadtek version. So...

Thanks for the heads up though, I hadnt looked on my usual buying site for a few weeks. BTW... expensive!

Housewives have snatched up all supplies of the GeforceFX, as they work better as a dust buster than a video card. Unfortunately, some of them are now suffering from permanent ringing of the ears.

so you're basing your experience with ATI on an old integrated chip? when has ANY integrated chip been that good? aside from the Nforce which is just barely acceptable IMO there is no integrated solution worth it's price.

The PNY FX Ultra has been in stock at Newegg all day. Just checked and they're still in stock.

Budman has a point, you really dont need a leaf blower in the fall.

You could go to the Circuit City where I just returned my 9700pro, buy it and use it as a doorstop. It's about the only thing I could see it doing right after all the trouble I had with it. :(

This is completely "unrelated" . . . however, did you know that the term "nVidiot" was actually coined by fanATIcs who claimed the nVidiots could not figure out HOW to properlhy install and run a Radeon?

I would say that if it's harder than popping the card in and double clicking on a driver install, something's wrong. There is a lot of ATI bias on these boards. Ever Ars from arstechnica said that the latest ATI driver release is pretty decent. He said that only after stating that the drivers which existed only 5 days earlier (from the date of his post) were absolute garbage. So, if less than two weeks ago a tech genius like ars says they're garbage....well, I've only had problems...

Evidently then - for you - ATI cards are "wrong" (thank god for nVidia). I like to "tinker" with my system and have no problem with the extra effort the ATI card may require.

ATI has only recently been "accepted" on these boards. The 9700Pro and lack of Ultra DustBuster saw to that.

BTW, the new 3.2s for Radeon evidently have some problems also . . . although they "fix" most of the problems of the newest games, some older games are badly affected. It's really the 3.3s that are supposed to be "all that and more" (IMO - and probably mine only - the 3.1s and 3.2s are not Ati's best work).

Oh so it's a case of "It's the next release that will work right. No, really. We PROMISE!"
Right...
Haven't they been saying that for years?

Hasn't nVidia? (check a current thread decrying the lack of new dets)
What about Microwsoft (do you need a "better" example then them)?
How about Creative (who seems to release a flurry of new drivers only when they have a new product)?

I think it's human engineering. Imperfect. There are SO MANY platforms, different hardware, so many new games - I'm AMAZED that drivers work as WELL as they do . . . it'll get better at ATI and nVidia . . .
