This is completely "unrelated" . . . however, did you know that the term "nVidiot" was actually coined by fanATIcs who claimed the nVidiots could not figure out HOW to properlhy install and run a Radeon?[/quote]

I can remember the tem nVidiot being utilized rather frequently back in the days shortly after the launch of the original TNT, when it was competing against the V2/V2 SLI.

ATi's highest performance graphics chip in the Rage128 was pretty much a non-entity so far as most enthusiasts were concerned at the time.

Actually the Rage128/Fury was ATIs first entry as a "real" GPU. It had awesome 2D and (eventually) 3D but ws rather "slow" for it's 32MB of RAM compared with the early GeForce (yep, I had a Rage Fury Pro).

ATI's GPUs really do seem to require more "work" than an equivalent nVidia GPU . . . some of us are just "willing" to put up with that. HOWEVER - recently - ATI has made "effort" (especially with the 9700Pro) to have it working reasonably well out-of-the-box.

I think the situation can only get better for ATI's customers as they have identified their "problem areas".

Budman has a point, you really dont need a leaf blower in the fall.

You could go to the Circuit City where I just returned my 9700pro, buy it and use it as a doorstop. It's about the only thing I could see it doing right after all the trouble I had with it. :(

Nobody said I didn't pick up another one....trying it as we speak. I thought we were just discussing the alternate uses for video cards not living up to there potential. FX=Leafblower....My first 9700 Pro=Doorstop...

Seems relevant :D

Seems clearer - now. Do you think CurseitCity will REsell your ATI doorstopper or send it back to ATI?

So . . . howz the new one (beware an O/C'd system)?

And it's really too big for a door stop.

Better, but as you noted....very sensitive to my O'clock. Even with the locked down AGP/PCI bus. I will keep testing it though(and living at the Rage forums). Also, when I read the line about the "ability" to set up an ATI card..., I just about spit my coffee all over my monitor. Funny, funny stuff....

I think I created the word Nvidiot way back during the 3dfx/Nvidia wars. If I didn't I was one of the first to use it. I owned 3dfx stock, and was quite a pesky 3dfx troll. After 3dfx went under, I bought into Nvidia, and now I love ATI. ATI kicks anus holes!

I am so sorry and have to apologive to nVidia fans if I offended them, but when I thought of it, I was really chucking aloud and couldn't reisit hitting the reply button after actually reading what I had typed (I usually manage to hit the "cancel" button more often, fortunately) . . . . Things sometimes get so "serious" around here . . . it's just my retarded attempt to poke fun at it.
