Ok, so I picked up Okami... moooooooooonths ago.. I wanted to play it when I first saw all the pretty Japanese scroll-like art. It was simply beautiful to behold. I spent the first day of the game just running around enjoying all the scenery. The gameplay is smooth and constant. Not to mention variable. You can either be precise and use your brush without even having to touch your enemy, or you can go in for the kill with an assortment of disks (reflectors), whips (rosary beads), and really big swords (glaives). You can wield two weapons at once, a main and sub weapon, which really adds a lot of strategy to your fighting. You can also find rare opportunities to purchase gold dust, which boosts your weapon power.
As for challenging... well.. its... not really. I mean, I *suppose* you could die. But if you're smart with your health bones and astral pouches you can't *actually* die. Even falling off a ledge just takes off a little bit of health. I played the game 600 hours, and never died once. Sure I did *technically* die once, but that's what the astral pouch is for, consider it a medic revive in an FPS.
Either way, I don't want to give away any of the game so I won't discuss the story, but I will say that the game is gorgeous, full of things to do, and has one of the best game endings I've ever watched.
So I'm done with the game, and will now start playing through it again to pick up some of the stray beads and demon fangs i missed.
The ending seemed to leave a lot of room for an Okami 2, and if that's the case i will DEFINITELY pick it up on launch day.
PICK UP THIS GAME!! It's WELL worth the money!
