in reference to this thread, i've just learned that my g/f has been accessing my aim logs remotely. WHAT THE FVCK?!?!? :|

i have zonealarm pro, w/ crazy security settings, a firewall router, i have NAV 2004, updated w/ the latest bugs always, winXP is completely up to date. what in gods name.....

i need you resourceful ppl to let me know of any programs that she might be using, and how to disable/remove them.

edit: ok well goosemaster clued me in, and i realized that i shared one of my drives so that i could get files from my computer when i'm on campus. woohoo for intarweb intelligence.

cant you just block her address using your firewall ?

/me is grateful to have only dated girls who are COMPLETLY computer illiterate. i mean, showing them how to burn a cd using nero, only to get called 2 hr.'s later because they forgot everything i just told them on how to burn a cd.

no, it's not paranoia. she admitted to it.

and i know she's not doing it directly because my comp is password protected, and i know for a fact that she doesn't know it.

i didnt read deep into the other thread, but is it possible she burned the logs to a cd-r or something and is reviewing them that way?

no because that first convo that she caught took place a couple of weeks ago and she saw it 3 or 4 days ago. now she's bringing up conversations that have taken place since then.

LOL she knows your password on your PC, and if she is getting them remottly she has probally enabled remote desktop. I think she knows more about networks than you :D

So you are SURE she's reading the logs remotely? Your setup sounds pretty secure, even if she has some kind of trojan or worm installed u would know from ZA...

Seeing as the averqage degree intelligence on here is equivalent to a pitted peach, I will gander to say that I think I know what she did.

She prolly set your aim shared to you entire drive, adn just went to C:Doucments and setting\user\my document\ etc....."

Now she can download stuff right after you save it....

well that's the simple solution, but goddamnit i don't want to be a victim of technology. if i want to keep my aim logs, i should be able to w/o being worried that my damn g/f is going to spy on me.

She is contacting the individuals/"pretending" to be them. Or, she is having friends be the individuals.

And if you are still not convinced of this:

Clean install + BIOS password. Make a whole new password. And do not get clever and do something like "<insert g/f's name here>isabitch".

And then change your AIM password.

Finally, make sure she does not have her own account on the computer (if you are using win2000, XP, or even *nix.) With the Win systems, if she has her own account on your machine, she can use that to log in remotely.

unless she made a nice little rule to let it go by unnoticed.
