Ok, I'm a little behind: Bioshock

i tried to play on easy and it became a joke. i had previously started the game and quit due to lack of interest on 2nd stage. this time i made it to 3rd stage but i lost interest again and quit.

i can see how some can like it but i just can't get into it. it has great visuals though especially when the game was new, with all the fancy eye candy on.

I liked (didn't love) Bioshock, but let people like what they like; your comment is uncalled for.
 
Once I got the cloak plasmid, I found the game to be very easy. I could just stand there and wait until the coast is clear, and then continue.

For Big Daddies, I would jsut shock them, hit them with damage until they could move again, then sock them again and repeat. Other methods worked as well, but this one was easy and took the least amount of ammo.
 
First off, Big Daddies are supposed to be dangerous to you. You are supposed to hesitate on deciding whether to kill one or not, you aren't supposed to be able to steam roll right fucking through them.

I never, ever had to use a respawn chamber to 'respawn rush' a big daddy. That is probably the silliest strategy I've ever heard of.

If you haven't noticed, Bioshock rewards players who put some thought into their attacks. Now certainly, you can cheese it up and watch some youtube videos, learn what works and mimic it. Or you could have used your brain and made up some strategies of your own.

I'm not going to argue about whether or not Bioshock deserves a 96. However I will say they put significantly more work into that game than most developers.

He's a rude asshole who posts this kind of shit repeatedly on here. He recently got back from being banned. Shocking, I know. He's on my permanent ignore list.
 
I'll be the first to admit that Bioshock didn't exactly have any groundbreaking gameplay elements. It's just an anomaly then that I still feel it is a great game. The whole package. The ideals that the game explores, Rapture as a whole, etc. It was a breath of fresh air when surrounded by games like Call of Duty 9, Call of Duty 10, Military FPS #87 and failed MMO #27.

If you're not the type of gamer to get sucked into plots and to actually read and listen to the storyline and were just running around looking for your next kill target, then yes I suppose Bioshock would come off as mediocre to you.
 
It wasn't until my 4th attempt at playing the game that I ended up not only finishing it, but LOVING it. I couldn't even get into it before then. I played on hard, but never found the game to be particularly difficult.

One thing to remember is that you don't have to kill everything. Big Daddy's specifically. You'll go through a lot of bullets if you are killing one every time you see it.

If he's ~18 years old, that means he registered when he was 9 years old. Nice try. 🙄

Anyway, I know it's cool around here to hate anything too popular, but I loved Bioshock. It was a well-paced, wonderfully atmospheric shooter with a great plot, great visuals, fantastic music and sound effects, and solid (if not truly ground-breaking) gameplay. Is it overhyped? Probably, but so are most games, especially shooters, now. It's all hyperbole. If it didn't blow you away, it "sucks". If it really was awesome, it's "one of the best games ever".

Anyway, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I'm glad to see that a majority of gamers still recognize it as a great game.

While it was fresh because of other FPS's out at that time, it wasn't new. That gameplay has been done hundreds of other times and the storyline was meh, nothing special about it. The environment was cool though, that's about the only thing I liked about it.

I like to shock 3 o 4 splices in the water, I use a lot the red anger plasma, watching them fighting is funny...

Hundreds? I don't think I can come up with half a dozen, so what exactly do you consider similar? That said, I'm not excusing it for being almost nothing but a dumbed down SS2 rehash; same old argument I know, but still valid IMO.

Er... I already said repeatedly that I love the plot and storyline, but the gameplay that drives me from one piece of story to the next is just not very fun.

However yes I would say it's more fun on easy if you're having trouble, because although dying doesn't affect the game, it's certainly a PITA.

No, you should not skip to Bioshock 2. It's even less remarkable than the first one and makes no sense story-wise. From the games you mentioned, Fallout 3 and GTA IV are both much, much more fun in my opinion (although both are huge time sinks).

I don't always agree with GA, but he's spot on here. I wanted to love Bioshock so much, but my god, could not get more than 2 hours into the first 1 on the PC or the 2nd 1 on PS3. I kept thinking "It gets better, right?" but it never did, maybe I needed to give it another hour of play?

This is exactly what made me lose interest in the game. Trying over an hour of strategies on the 2nd (I think anyways, first one that can shoot) Big Daddy with no great results. I can waste all of my ArP shells to take about 30% of his life away and then plink away with normal crap. I just don't have enough weapons to effectively kill him which annoyed me.

So there is 0 penalty for dying? That seems dumb, but I am totally going to wrench spam this fkr down and try to legit kill other ones later when I actually enough ammo or other possibilities.

Option B would be skipping the Big Daddy. I am assuming there are different endings based on what you do. Something like free all, harvest all, and anything in between (i.e. freeing whenever you killed a big daddy but not actually getting all of them).

The story is very interesting to me so I may need to start over since it's been like 2 years since I've actually progressed.

Also, can you change difficulty on the fly or is it only when you create a game? What does the difficulty do exactly?

If you don't have enough ammo to kill a big daddy, your problem may not be how you attack Big Daddies, it may be how you are handling other creatures (IE spamming all your ammo into a room trying to kill a lone splicer).

How could you pick the slowest way to kill something, and then call anything ELSE a waste of time?

Well it's been awhile so my memory may not be great, but as a rule of thumb I am pretty efficient. That's probably the biggest reason why I haven't gotten past this Big Daddy because I can't kill him efficiently. I have enough ammo, but I dont' have enough ArP ammo (it is just sparse early on, I wouldn't use it on anything else) and the rest does piddly amounts of damage to him.
 
Never had any problems playing the game;
Even when fighting against big daddy the game didn't manage to make me upgrade my skills in FPS. Play it on a lower level than....
