OK, do I have the slowest friggin computer here?

Alright folks, if the fastest computer in your household is slower than the fastest in my household (the one I'm using now), let me know so I feel better!

I have a gateway with a pentium II-450 MhZ, 56k modem, Riva TNT, SB 64. Ugh. This is the best, fastest, newest computer I own. Actually, come to think of it, we finally threw away the ol' Mac, so this the ONLY computer we own.

I know I know, stop bitching johnjohn, you have a computer that gets you to AT so what else matters, right?

If you aren't into gaming,photoshop or huge spreadsheets your system is probably adequate for what miost people use computers for, namely MS Word, Quicken, email and web surfing. A lot of my clients have similarly configured systems,heck I servicve a few offices with PII300's and the like,yours is a speed demon in comparision

Well, if it's any consolation, until a few months ago my fastest box was a PII 400mhz w/TNT2-Ultra and 256MB PC100. It actually wasn't that bad.. Ironically, the iMac that I gave my mom was 333mhz/96MB, and was noticeably faster at SETI@Home than the PII.

My parents are running a PII 266 with 128MB of PC66 RAM. Count your blessings. I hate going home when I can't take my computer with me.

Mine is a Gateway 2000 (G6200), 200mhz Pentium Pro, 256mb RAM, 4.3gb HD, Win98se, 56K Dialup.

We have three overpowered Athlons in this house with all the bells and whistles, but I still enjoy messing around with my Pentium 133 with 90 MB of RAM. I surf the 'net with it, and in many ways its just as easy to use with Windows 95 as the other computers around here. No CD-RW or USB, but still useful.

Check my "Rigs" in my signature for the full story, but my slowest in my household is a K6-3 400 (which is about equivilent to that P2 450 of yours)

We still have an old Packard Bell PII 266 that I use for storage and basically a spare. It was my mother in law's, I built her a T-Bird about a year ago and took her old one home.
Still has Win 95 on it. Doesn't seem that slow, really, for just general purposes, not gaming or anything.

I use a K6-3 400 /w 256MB ram on a regular basis, this is what I am typing on. I don't play games, though. My mom has a duron 700, and my dad has an athlon xp 1700 or something close to that.

It's not a crappy computer. My proc on my box is a K6-2 400 OC/d to 500 though (so it smokes yours still ), no modem, as modems are for weenies, AIW Radeon, 448MB Ram, 180GB Raid array, 250W ps.

Works as a fileserver/firewall/hitman for hire.
