Shell and Exxon to smash transatlantic profit records
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2095-2014300,00.htmlOIL companies on both sides of the Atlantic will gush record profits this week, with America?s Exxon Mobil posting the world?s biggest-ever profit, and Shell setting a new record for British companies.
Exxon is tomorrow expected to unveil a profit of about $32 billion (£18 billion) for 2005, according to Thomson Financial. It will be the largest single profit in the history of corporate America.
It shatters last year?s previous record for a company of $25 billion, set by Texas-based Exxon, the world?s largest listed oil company, and easily trumps the benchmark $22.1 billion made by Ford in 1998.
On Thursday Shell will top record-setting results with an estimated profit of $23 billion for 2005. This is up nearly a third from 2004, when its profits were $17.6 billion, at the time the biggest by a British company.
Not a bit of price gouging going on. Nope. Not a bit.

2-9-2006Bush proposes drilling off Virginia and Florida coast despite Jeb Bush protests
WASHINGTON - Bush administration officials on Wednesday proposed lifting a ban on oil and natural gas drilling off Virginia's coast and in an area off Florida where drilling is opposed by Gov. Jeb Bush, the president's brother.
The Interior Department hopes drilling in areas where it is currently banned will boost U.S. oil and natural gas supplies at a time of high energy prices and reliance on foreign suppliers. The United States is the world's biggest energy consumer and demand is expected to keep growing, especially from new power plants fueled by gas.
Energy companies say they could help meet growing demand if they get access to many offshore areas where drilling is not allowed.

Anyone beside the resident rich republicans in here believe the Energy Companies?

He thinks he is entitled to cheap gas, but does not want it provided by an oil company.

Wrong.
I believe in all the drilling we could do and all the Refineries neccessary to not drive up an artificial high price of a neccessary product.
It is clearly obvious this is not possible with the existing corrupt Oil Industry.

I am sure it is U.S./Saudi's working together attacking the fields.
2-24-2006 Oil jumps after Saudi refinery attack
NEW YORK - Oil prices extended gains Friday, hovering around $62 a barrel, after attackers tried to blow up a Saudi oil refinery.
All of the would-be attackers were killed, although it was not clear how many people were inside the two vehicles when they detonated.

Notice there is no mention of who is doing the attacking or why.

Why is that cool? It would hurt the poor and make the rich richer. Are you saying that is what you want? Or are you just trolling again as usual?Originally posted by: dmcowen674
No, there was possibility of $100/bbl last year.
$262 Cool  that should translate to $7.50 gal gas
