This shoots down all the Republicans in here screaming that the Oil Co's are working on coming up with alternative fuels:

10-30-2005 Alternate energy not in cards at ExxonMobil

ExxonMobil, which stunned Americans on Thursday by reporting nearly $10 billion in profit for the third quarter, says it has no plans to invest any of those earnings in developing alternative or renewable energy

Exxon's huge profits and its reluctance to use them for alternative energy development are unlikely to win much applause from motorists weary of $3 gas, suspicious that the current decline in prices will be short-lived, and hoping either for plenty of gas on the market or for a cheaper alternative.

The Sierra Club, an environmental group often critical of the auto and energy industries, said Thursday: "Americans want clean sources of energy that protect public health, reduce pollution, curb global warming, and save consumers money. Instead, ExxonMobil has worked to make America more dependent on oil."

No it doesn't, it just proves that you and Dean are so desperate that you'll try to spin anything.. Just because one company isn't interested in alt engergy, doesn't mean others aren't.

Oh, a company that primarily engages in the exploration, production, and sale of crude oil and natural gas; and manufacture, transportation, and sale of petroleum products isn't interested in alternative energy...imagine that........

I think it is shortsited of exxon not hedge its bets against future energy supplies. At some point in the future people will stop complaining about big oil companies and start complaining about the oil companies that morphed into big energy companies.

No kidding. I'd like someone to explain why an oil company must be interested in alternative energy.

Last time I checked anyone that wanted to start a company, could. With all the complaints about a lack of alt energy from the left here, one would expect they would start a company that creates and markets alt energy. Yet all of them are quiet...

What will happen is that a big oil company will become a leader in alt energy. Then the left will run crying here saying it's just more Republican's that are getting rich on alt energy when that company posts record profts.

The double standards of the left is so entertaining. :D

I wasn't asked.

Anybody in here asked by the Oil Barons if prices were OK with you?

These guys claim that consumers told them prices are OK:

10-29-2005 OPEC's president Sheikh Ahmad al-Fahd al-Sabah said on Saturday oil prices were approaching a level acceptable to both consumers and producers after recent decreases.

U.S. crude has remained high due to concern about supply of refined products such as diesel and heating oil, rather than concern about the supply of crude oil.
=====================================================
Well which is it?

A "concern" or is it real???

Hello Republicans.

Why is is it OK for OPEC to tell their fellow Oil Barons to invest the profits back into business while over here the Republicans say it should only go to themselves???

10-30-2005 OPEC Urges Oil Companies to Invest Profits to increase their refining capacity and help ease pressure on oil prices

"This is a chance for them to invest," said Adnan Shihab-Eldin, acting secretary-general of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.

Several major oil companies reported surging third-quarter profits this week.

"We've been saying this past year that refining has to increase," Shihab-Eldin said on the sidelines of a conference on long-term issues of energy supply being held in the Italian resort town of Rimini. "There needs to be more refining and upgrading."

Asked when global demand for oil could surpass production, Shihab-Eldin said that was a distant prospect.

"I think it's decades away ? at least three or four decades," he said.
==================================================
Meanwhile the Oil Barons continue to say there is NO shortage of OIL.

The so-called "supply and demand" is all phoney, just as phoney as Republicans are.

I see the excuse factory is running at an all time high... if you care so much Dave, why don't you start a company that markets alt energy? No liberal actually wants to do anything on their own, because that would just open themselves to criticisms. It is easier to do nothing and point fingers at others than actually go out and make a difference in the world.

If you are so concerned about what other people are doing with their money, why don't you post your income and expenses here so we can dictate how you manage your money? I think your personal profits are way too high and that there are poor people that could put to use your frivilous spending.

What are you babbling about???

I have no money and haven't for a long time, going on 6 years now since Government sponsored persecution.

I have been contracting job to job and still $15,000 in debt for lawyer fees and related expenses.

Explain how my "personal profit" is too high and my frivilous spending when I have lost everything I ever owned.

You want our country to become like the Islamic fundamentalists? We value freedom to spend money on however one chooses.

I love how Dave wants gas to be $10 a gallon but doesn't want oil companies to make a profit.

How do we value freedom by becoming Christian fundamentalists?

How do you make a distinction which is OK and which is not???

These "christian fundamentalists" are telling people what they can and cannot drive, and what they can and cannot invest their own profits in?

Apparently you have money to buy a computer, money to pay for the electricity costs to run the computer and money to pay for Internet access. How about money to buy gas and maintain your car? Not to mention all the time wasted online.

Why not take that extra money and buy meals for the homeless? Why not ride your bike to work and break your personal love affair with foreign oil? Why not take your time and volunteer to help people in need?

I already know the answer. You are above that and too good to help other people. It's all well and good as long as other people pay to do what you want, but when it becomes to your money and your lifestyle, you don't want anything to do with it.

Ah, the uninformed yet still continues on personal crusade.

This computer dates back quite a few years, back to when the first AMD XP chip came out and I built it so that saves cost. I used an ASUS board so a few years later was able to buy the last XP chip that can go in the board. I would hardly call that frivulous.

Since divorced I contribute to keeping a house running.

Wasted time online eh? So only you are worthy enough to be online???

Be pretty tough to ride a bike across the world's longest bridge ( The Causeway ) at 24 miles everyday back and forth to work especially when bicycles are not allowed on it.

Volunteering? You have no idea how much I have done over the years when I was in a position to volunteer and help. Try looking up Telephone Pioneers of America, I was a Volunteer of the Region Award receipient.

Look under Geography Lesson to see me in picture and article

I am still sacrificing. When the people of New Orleans were being flown out, I was flown in to bring up Cell phone service where the storm cut it off. As soon as I made the connections to emergency Microwave links every channel went busy and people noticed around the world.

Look under wiring in emergency microwave link to Landmark Hotel

I've provided proof.

What have you've done lately???

What I do or don't do isn't relevant, because I don't run around telling everyone else how to live their life like you do.

But I see you delibrately live a long way from work to avoid using public transportation or physical transportation, yet you think everyone else should.

So you volunteer telephones. That's great. How many poor people did that help raise out of poverty? If you're going to run this country, how can you expect to change the lives of millions, when you're too "busy" to change the life of one?

Your proof is bogus. I don't have a crusade against you; just exposing you for the hypocrite and fraud that you really are.

If you truely believed in what you "claim" to, then you'd change your life to follow your beliefs. Apparently you are too good for that, but everyone else in this world should do what you say. Ahhh... the liberal hypocracy makes me .

It costs $6 billion dollars and 10 years to build a refiinery in America. How about loosening the regulations for what has been historically a below average industry? The S&P 500 returns 12.6% over the last decade compared to the refining industry, 7%.

Actually I have been looking for a motorcycle. It's risky with the lousy drivers though.
