Time to raise prices even though oil inventories would not be affected.

How about panic.

Felix is over Venezuela now. What happens if it turns north toward the Gulf.
Venezuela rigs could be affected now and the Gulf rigs if it heads that way.

That should be enough for the speculators to climb on the "experts" FUD wagon.

Dave swears such people don't exist. It's all Bush and Halliburton.

I would like to forever be remembered as saying that energy prices will tend to go from the lower left corner of price graphs to the upper right corner of a graph.

Just remember I called it, ok?

Absolutely. There has never been any disputing that.

All the more reason that we should have been off of oil shortly after the 1973 oil embargo.

I forever would like to be called for that.

Old enough to be personally affected by many ways:

My Dad lost his job at the Esso station due to it.

My Grandfather sold the boat because could no longer afford to make the trip across the bay.

I dismantled a go-cart I had built because allowance money wasn't going to cut it anymore.

Were you even born yet???

Dave, I'm older than you, I was driving back then.

Sounds like your whole family was screwed by big oil Dave.

I'd be mad as hell and I wouldn't take it any more.

I dont know anyone on the side of Oil Companies. What the heck is an oil company supporter? All I know is they have the gas and I need it. It is hard to say who is in charge. After all it is the EPA that moves in and says area b you have to have blend a, area b you have to have blend b. My guess is that there are many blends of gasoline that we do not really need, simply because the EPA mandated the Oil Companies provide it.

Sure...as soon as you provide the article showing people paid to post on tech message boards showing oil companies in a positive light ;) Oh! And also one that shows where people are paid to turn a blind eye on said message boards!

No, just people who deal in facts. Who want to put blame where blame is due. We don't blame the big oil companines just becuase they are big, oil, or companies. Just because they have tons of money doesn't make the evil. If that were the case, Bill Gates would be the devil himself...er...wait...bad example. :)

Seriously though, If taking all the oil companies net profits away caused a drop in the price of a gallon of gas by a two bits, I'd be supprised.

I have in fact posted an article about paid shills to post on boards.

It should've been included in the sticky thread at the top about posting your own input.

If the letter of that rule was followed a huge portion of posters would be banned I'm sure.

How many of these exist on this board? How about naming them, along with posting evidence that you have stating that they are "paid shills".

BTW, is your gas there $5/gallon, Dave?

So Dave considers anyone who disagrees with him a paid shill?

Sounds like a personal attack to me...

Just because a person may be democratic, conservative, republican, neocon, left, right, or has a different point of view, it does not mean they are in bed with the oil companies. Last I checked everyone had to buy gas unless they dont use gas or dont own a motor vehicle. I cant beleive anyone is actually pro oil company, unless that is where they make their money.

One problem is that we have allowed a Government department (EPA), basically run the oil industry. The oil industry is almost as complicated as the IRS. These idiots mandated putting MTB's in Gasoline so they could poisin the water to make air cleaner.

Then they forced everyone to get an EPA sticker on their car in certain geographic locations just to get a drivers license or register and license an automobile. These Environmental Inspections of cars have not made the air any cleaner. This has only served to harass the consumer. If they just get car companies to build better cars and trucks then they will run cleaner.

If the EPA would just encourage people to get rid of some of these older cars, then maybe the air would be cleaner. Every old klunker spewing smoke out the tailpipe that they can get off the rode will make up for 100 new cars. Maybe the EPA should buy back these smoke spewing death traps. If we can buy back guns, why not cars? Taking a car off the road that is over 20 years old is a service that might be worth it.

Did you know that the EPA had a program to buy lawn mowers, if you purchased an electric lawn mower?

Two hurricanes and two misses of the major oil platforms (and refineries) in the Gulf of Mexico area....yet both have caused gas to rise in Lexington, KY from $2.54 to $2.75 to $2.95 (with small drops between the $2.75 and $2.95 of about $0.06 cents). Wonder how long it will take to drop back now that the hurricanes have missed?

Driving season (summer) is over.....yet prices rising again.

Answered my own questions......fear....fear....fear (The McOwen effect! :D )
