Thank god HD finally built a bike with a real engine in it (makes over 100bhp IIRC). I'm just waiting for Erik Buell to get his paws on one of the V-Rod engines and incorporate it into a new Buell. I would be first in line for one of those.:D

Ouch! $26K?!
That's a little steep, even for a Harley. The ultimate poseur machine, I guess.

It is kinda steep, but I wouldn't call it a poseur machine. It's a pretty bad-ass bike in all ways (actually makes some HP, is actually water-cooled, actually handles well, and actually has some brakes). All things the previous H-D's couldn't claim.

There was a program on TLC or Discovery (forget which) detailing the development of this bike that was kinda neat. They and Porsche put an astounding amount of time into the V-Rod....it shows, I'd say.

Now if Harley would get back into making race bikes (and the accompanying street version:D) I'd be a happy man.

I'm no HD fanboy, but have to give them credit for daring to take the leap into the brave new world of watercooled engines.

HONDA VTX OWNZ JOO!!!

or something to that effect... I like the HD, but too chromy and futuristic for me. But what do I know, I own a lowly VStar 650. The VTX or the Mean Streak would be what I would buy had I the money or if the wife would let me... :(

I thought they said 17k.

<The suggested retail price for all this goodness is $16,995 and Harley's planning a production run of 11,000 units. The bikes will be available in a myriad of colors - that is, as long as you know a myriad of different ways of saying "silver.">

That's the MSRP, unfortunately, dealers are cranking the price wayyyyy up right now, to cash in on everyone wanting one. 90% of the dealers out there are selling them for well over $20K, some as high as $26k.

That's true, the bike is revolutionary, for a Harley. It does nothing that any of the three big Jap cruisers can do for half the price. Hence, if people are buying the VRod purely for the "Harley" branding, it enforces my statement. :)

I never saw Harley road race, but I'm sure there was a reason they got out of it. ;)

The only thing you statement enforces is that you are just another peckerheaded ATOT geek who thinks what he has to say is of interest to anybody but himself.

There's the red dawn that we all know and love. I could picture him on it though, passing cars and flipping people off...
