If you want to base your support and voting habits on the actions of people 150 years ago, you're more than welcome to do so. It would be dumb, but that's your choice.

Since we're talking about the party that exists in the real world today, as my post was describing, it's completely accurate. There is a major political party in the US that has race baited black people and other minorities for about 5 decades now, but it isn't the Democrats. This is why minorities almost never vote for this unmentioned political party.

I was simply pointing out the history of the party.

Generally speaking, from the town hall meetings I've run into on-air, it seems like most of the folks that are given a chance to speak are either just plain ranting without specifics relating to the health care issue, or they're mostly repeating misinformation and lies that they've latched onto from the repub propaganda ministry.

And yes, the Republicans have been race baiting for decades now. Hell, back in the day they openly admitted it, now they tend to be more careful... but the strategy is still very similar.

There are other reasons, and that is why the Dem party here has openly promised that it will not reform Medicaid in NY. If you try, then you are racist. It's a given. It's been attempted. The Dems count on it and the Reps fear the "baited black people" tag here in NY.

Pretty? No, but true. We never had more minorities voting than in the last Presidential election in Rochester. I was working in an inner city store, and know what the overwhelming reason for them selecting Obama? "He's black, so he's going to give me more stuff" Yeah, that's a literal quote echoed with small variations throughout the day.

Race is an interesting weapon, and here in NY the Dems know how to use it.
