What did he actually say or do to piss her off this time? Obviously, it couldn't have been a joke if she had been willing to joke about it til now.

I believe they were talking about something stupid to do with politics. Their views differed, she took the immature way out.

Life lesson #2 here. NEVER TALK POLITICS/RELIGION IN THE WORKPLACE!!

We're only getting 1 side of the story here. No one can say how the girl really felt about being teased about it.

She laughed about it with everyone. The two went to lunch together frequently. They talked all the time. They hung out outside of work.

I think that looks like a pretty solid friendship. Apparently she takes her politics seriously... Or she was on the rag.

What's the male to female ratio in your office?

And her also.

Definitely not. The supervisor that wrote him up and he are very good friends. He helped her move, she constantly invites him over for dinner, hell, a week before the incident they went OUT for dinner, on a Saturday.

He really was the easiest guy to get a long with here, and his humor kept laughter in the office.

Or he stepped over the line a second time.

You are only getting his side of the story.

sucks that she went bitchy on him, but he should never have continued harrassing her about it. It may have been jokingly, but it's still a form of harrassment

It's possible, but I don't think he'd ever go too far while we were at work. He always reserved his best jokes for lunch, while we weren't at the office.

Haven't people learned that you cannot risk that kind of behavior any more? I hear that all the time "Oh, our office is cool, everyone knows they are joking." People better wake up. All someone has to do is say they "felt" threatened or harrassed, and the jig is up. If push comes to shove, who is going to be the fall guy? The guy who was "joking around."

When you play back the "jokes" on the witness stand, they don't sound funny any more.

There are people out there who actually try to encourage harassment so they can build a case for a nice financial settlement. We had one but the person was so obvious about it, no one fell for it.

they hung out outside of work and she pulls this shit? f- that

IF she said to your friend, "this is making me uncomfortable, please stop" and he kept goin along, then he's a douche and deserves it

IF she thought it was funny and then pulled this shit cuz she's a vengeful spiteful bitch, then she can DAADRAAH

If I had a way to resolve this it would be:

1) Girl should've first brought up any discomfort with the guy with his behavior and then elevate it if it doesn't work. (usually never happens cuz girls are typically non-confrontational)

2) Guy should've stopped with the 'go out with me' jokes a long time ago.

It's clear that gender attitudes are out of whack at this office.

a girl (not very attractive, but that doesn't matter)
Stupid bitch.
Or she was on the rag.

Also, he wasn't the only one that joked like that. Tons of people in the office occasionally make lewd jokes. And the F bomb is a commonly used word around here. Really, half the office could be written up.

Good luck when the lawsuit(s) hit.

But it isn't, everyone works together so well. It really is "the cool place" to work.

So, he turned from a cheerful, outgoing, happy worker to a introverted, silent, apathetic worker. And in a couple of weeks, he comes in with an AK-47.

I've adopted a "strictly business" policy with the women at work. I communicate only as needed for work and that's all.

I don't like doing this, but I really have no other choice. I just can't take the chance.

What prompted this was my remark to a female co-worker that her hair smelled nice. I had known her for over 20 years at that point. The next day she's acting very cool towards me. After doing some discrete checking around, I find that she was offended by my remark and is considering filing sexual harassment charges against me. I should say that she has a history of this behavior and has followed through in the past. None of her accusations have stuck - yet.

Sexual harassment is what the woman (in this case) deems it to be. It may be a lewd joke, a suggestive remark, that your hair smells nice, or maybe even "Good morning". It's all up to her.

I'm not risking everything on them.

A couple years ago I was working at a Best Buy and a vendor left a gift for one of my co-workers as a thank you for some help. Now the co-wokrer is a very attractive blonde. But she was oddly excited about the gift, not because of what it was, but because she was just happy to get a package at work. And she kept saying "I got a package!". When she said that to me I responded with, "I'm trying not to make a joke". She insisted I tell her what the joke was even though it was obvious it centered around making a joke on "package". So I told her I was gonna say "If I'm feeling UP for it later, I've got a package for you"

She then went and told the manager on duty that I have no respect for women. And the MOD came over and had a talk with me. That was some of the biggest bullshit ever to me. I wasn't even gonna say it until she insisted.

how do you know that someone in your office isn't just playing along, while all the time fretting over the activities and comments? It happens.

did I say I considered it one? NO. But some people would. And that's what matters.

Today's workplace can be very unforgiving.

I would bet that you and the OP are both under 25, am I right?

Hopefully he learned a valuable life lesson here.

Never trust women?

1. Never ask a co-worker out
2. If you do and are rejected, DON'T TEASE THE CO-WORKER ABOUT IT!!

you would think this would be common sense.

the friend is a idiot for putting himself in the situation.
