Obama is totally scum, my friends.

In response to his own inadequacy and mishaps in trying to relate to the common voter, John McCain trows the glove all up in Obama's grill, yo. Obama bought a house next to some land bought by a CONVICTED FELON!

I wonder how that uppity Obama is going to respond?

I got dizzy from all the spin you put on that.

The ad was poignant. I don't think I'm going to be voting for Obama anymore.

I live a block from Obama's house. It isn't that spectacular compared to his neighbor 2 houses down or some of the other houses in the neighborhood. I really need to get a picture of that house (the neighbor vs. Obama's).

The ad was too short to really be convincing.. and the $14 million figure came from nowhere (if the "favor" was so bad you'd think they'd be specific). That said it is a toss-up whether is works for voters or not.

I really enjoyed the cheerful notes right before McCain's melting old mug shows up right at the end of the ad. I feel that 71 year old ghouls represent everything America stands for--I'm voting for McCain. This man speaks to me.

As a fellow ghoul, I will be voting McCain. I will even vote twice if I can get away with it--you will be surprised how your great-grandfather's passport and hitting your face into the wall a few times can do wonders with identity change when you're one of the undead.

If you can do this, that would be wicked awesome. I think the forum would appreciate it as citizen journalism, as long as you don't get your ass arrested.

Do mansions really go for $1 million in Chicago? I'm wondering if they're calling a nice home a mansion.

I agree that it was to short to get the point across.

They need to show a pic of the house and the lot, perhaps with drawings, to get the point across that Rezko bought an empty useless lot in order to gain access and perhaps favors from Obama.

Stupidest thing Obama has ever done was to allow this deal to go through like it did. Looks fishy as hell. Even if Obama did nothing wrong it raises questions about his judgement.
Rezko, Ayers and Wright together paints a damning picture of the people Obama has chosen to get close with.

I got a picture of Obama's house the other day when I was showing my Dad the house. Saw the secret service dude watching me from the driveway in his car. Kind of weird.

A lot of the homes in the Hyde Park/Kenwood area sell for at least $1 million. But they are also really big. I'll look into getting some better shots of Obama's house and his neighbors homes (especially the one that 100x nicer than his) this weekend.

Edit (8-22):
Obama's House: _MG_6328.jpg (the person that you probably can't see in the SUV was watching everyone).

Edit (8-24):
Check later in the thread for more pictures of Obama's house, his neighbors, and some of the surrounding property.

LOL WTF?

That's less appealing than a "modest" 2 1/2 storey a block away from my scummy student-area apartment--and those have way more lawn & garden space.

If McCain and his goons want to call this a mansion, they are really far beyond delusional.

Also:

Link

The condo that serves as the McCain's primary Phoenix residence was purchased in 2006 for $4.7 million by Cindy McCain's trust. It is a 6,600-square foot unit.

Less than one year after the McCains acquired it, a corporation controlled by Cindy McCain bought another condo on a lower floor in the same building for $830,000.

And, in between, the corporation plunked down $700,000 for a 1,900-square-foot, three-bedroom loft condo for their then-22-year-old daughter, Meghan, who was moving back to Phoenix after graduating from New York's Columbia University. The unit is now listed for sale at $730,000.

The Obamas' family home *cough* "mansion" *cough* cost just a bit over what Sidney and Cindy bought their daughter as a fucking graduation present? ...and Obama even had to get a sneaky discount on the purchase? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

As I said, I'll take some pictures of the area on Saturday and post them here. It is fairly large for a house, but not larger than any of the other homes in the neighborhood (which has kind of older structures anyway). Obama's house is bigger than that picture makes it look, but definitely not the nicest or largest house by far.

Silly Obama, he failed to be psychic, he should have known the seller would be indicted years later on criminal charges.

Kind of reminds me of me, I bought a house, or should we call it a compound to properly demonize me, from sellers who were less than totally savory as I found out much later. The wife later went bankrupt and the husband played fast and loose with his creditors. I just care about one thing, I now own the house free and clear and no one can come after me.

But I really think we should have a psychic President, and McCain also fails that sniff test. After all, McCain should have known when he went into that bombing run, that a Sam that looked as big as a telephone pole was about to make his wheels fall off. Or we could talk about the Keating five, of which McCain is a charter member.

Silly LL,

Everyone knows that only secret-muslim sleeper-terrorists are psychic, because they are evil and devious like that.

McCain doesn't need psychic powers to truly LEAD America. He has his brawn, and his GUT. I'm going with McCain's GUT, because it's full of fiber suppelements; and fiber REALLY GETS THINGS MOVING in positive directions. Only McCain has the moral "fiber" to move America smoothly into a pipeline toward security and prosperity.

this thread is terrible... why is being rich a bad thing? why should we make our politicians feel guilty for it? it's not like Mrs. McCain's family made their income doing anything illegal.

What's truly terrible is that the only people that can run for the highest office in this land are multi-millionaires. I'm tired of relying on uber rich folks to look out for "rest of us".

In this election, the campaigning starting a full 4 to 6 months earlier than I have ever remembered in my lifetime. This further widens the gap in who can and can't afford these campaigns.

Presidents in the U.S. should be elected in the same manner as the Prime Minister is in Canada. Over there, it's all over really quickly. Make these things elections again, not industries.

Naive thinking I suppose.

This whole thing started when Obama made a dumbass comment about McCain not knowing the American peoples plight because he cant remember how many homes he has. You go down that road and you open yourself up. That said i find it absolfuckinglutely hilarious when a politician who rakes in millions can stand there and tell he knows our issues. In this case one who rakes in millions a year and just got back from Hawaii.

Though I believe John Edwards takes the cake in this regard.

People who live in glass houses.........

Obama should not have opened that can of worms, he chose to go after McCain on the house issue, knowing full well that he bought his own expensive house using a bribe/deal with a convicted felon. Sounds like both guys would have been better off leaving that issue be.

On a lighter note, are there really no more pressing issues to deal with than the homes of these two candidates? Surely there are more important things to consider?

You can spin it any way you like but what's worse is when a politician says that rich starts at $5 million and stands and says he understand American people. what a fraud.

That's like saying that it's worse to see a kick to the nuts coming, than being surprised by a kick to the nuts. Either way, you're getting kicked in the nuts.

Don't be silly, when a D is rich he is an elitist an out of touch. When an R is rich? Uh, well...

Oh see it always seems when a D is rich(and how many of those politicans are poor?) he is an elitist that is in touch with the common man. When a republican is rich he is in touch with evil corporations.
