I thought this became a non-issue when people realized Halliburton got no-bid contracts under clinton as well...

I very much agree with Jackshmittusa, but the thing now missing in action is that Obama has given the contract his own tacit approval. One would think that Gates would have stopped the contract or at least put it up to bids, but now that its hit the news, any further Obama passivity may constitute his own tactic approval.

Before we may have been able to say Obama did not know, but Obama has to know now.

So you are saying that now Obama is complicit in the corruption business?

Kellog Brown and Root have been in the corruption business for the bulk of the past 80 years are so. They rode the LBJ horse until he dropped, but now that Halliburton acquired them, Dick Cheney is their new Fairy God Mother sprinkling pixie dust and no bid contracts all over their body.

Maybe Obama is the new Fairy God Mother?

Our words come back to haunt us

Sometimes there are only a few companies capable of fulfilling a contract (often due to conniving to force that situation, but whatever). And sometimes there's only one. It happens.
