You are correct about the JBL drivers. There is no in the middle for horn loaded speakers. Either you
like them or don't. Personally, I hate them. The saving grace of this over engineered monstrosity is the
Cary amps, which probably kill most of the shrill nature of the horn loaded JBL tweeters. This is a "show-
off" system for someone who has more money than brains. While the bass will prob knock you over, and
the volumes possible (dynamic range) are equal to jet engines, I am equally sure this system sounds like
crap to an experienced ear.
One pair of Cary amps on Martin Logan Prodigy's bi amped with Bryston 500 Watter monoblock on Woofer
and an Ayre K-3 or Mark Levinson 32 preamp would be far more enjoyable listening experience.

Hgh end audio consumption used to be centered in Hong Kong, where price was no object, and is respon-
sible for the doubling and tripling of hi end prices HERE. If your product was "value priced" is was assumed no
garbage. Price was equated with desireability. How about a $70,000 turntable with a granite plinth? A $15K
phono cartridge? The sky was the limit. Then the economies of the far east crashed. And China took over.
And now top end hi-fi has priced itself out of the marketplace. It was briefly saved by the dot com bubble,-
but that has burst now too. And the mp3 format has ruined any chance of a new generation of "audiophiles"
emerging to replace the old.
