Having never played a MMORPG and seeing that picture I am completely clueless as to whats going on and still think MMORPGs are the most boring concept ever imagined for a game ever. I honestly can't understand how someone can paly that cr@p at all let alone how they can become so addicted to it they lose sleep and such. But maybe thats just me with my ADD or whatever needing instant gratification coming from shooting people in the face in an FPS instead of spending a month leveling up my character or whatever the heck people do in WoW.

You know when in a game you make some accomplishment, like beating a boss or getting some sweet new item? Then you go to high five somebody and realize, oh wait, no one cares. MMO's are basically places to let your E-rection grow to massive proportions and wear it around your neck like an Olympic medal.

No one cares... except all the people you play with?

I really do enjoy all the people bashing the game out of total ignorance. "Instead of spending a month leveling up my character or whatever the heck people do in Wow." LAWL

I am stoked. When 2.3 comes, first thing I do is to build myself a flying mount. Then I spend my 150 badges on the new rewards and pwn some allies.
Grinding level sucks, it's good to just take over your friend's account and play for fun.

I started playing again last month. Got a lvl 45 rogue. I get my guitar practice in during flights and boat rides between cities 🙂 Not doing alts because this is enough of a time waster.

you know i personally do not like MMORPG's and have no desire to ever play one. i don't like RPG's in general.

however to bash a game such as WoW is just ignorant as all hell. if there are over 10 million people (guess) who pay a monthly fee to play this game, then it obviously is not a terrible game. it's actually obviously a very good game.

stop bashing stuff you have never played and just do not enjoy.

Eh, whatever floats your boat. I'm not gonna knock another man for what makes him happy unless it intrudes on my life or hapiness.

I've never played the game. I have no interest in it. I used to play a little D & D with some friends back in highschool, but I'm more interested in women now (not that I wasn't before, I just didn't know how to handle them then. Come to think about it I'll never know how to handle them, but hell, that's half the fun. Trying to do something you know is impossible!).

every now and then i see a pic or video that makes me want to play again, but then i remember that once you get so far, its pointless. even though i did have fun leveling up my first character, trying to level up more is just extremely boring and since i already know what happens when you get to the higher levels, its useless to keep playing.

Ditto.

As a guy with a wife and two kids, I simply don't have time to grind my way into stuff like that, and haven't for a very long time.

It's a pretty fun game til you hit the level cap though (of course, last I played the level cap was 60).

Yes...it's very immersive without getting too serious about itself. It has humor, excitement, mystery, and that "human" factor that makes it nearly the perfect game. The WOW creators are masters of "mini victories". With each obstacle you overcome, you're only a little way from getting a little bit more. I can easily see how people can become addicted (the same way gamblers do).

That is the problem with people that don't get the game.

It really begins once you cap. Then all the gear is open to you and you no longer are stuck having to grind levels.

If you are raiding and doing quests, you should be able to pick up all the gathering items pretty easy if you can multi-task and remember to do it.

What happens with most is they are single goal oriented. They do one quest in an area and then travel for an hour to turn in when they could have concurrently ran 5-6 quests.

I am just a hack at it. I have a good guild on Alleria though of a bunch of oldies like me. A lot of us are causal players.

If anyone was a victim of the nvidia bug for months now, with the recent update its gone.

I think the thing you are missing alkemyst is that not everyone gets a sense of accomplishment out of "gathering items" that don't exist. See those of us with a more evolved sense of gamesmanship know that the only real accomplishment is gained by blowing off the heads of other people in FPS games 😛.

Not saying WoW is evil or anything like that, just saying personally to ME that type of game seems like the most boring thing ever devised. The problem I have is the amount of time it requires to be good, its not necessarily your skill at the game as much as your lack of a life that determines how quickly you can level up or gain items or whatever.

You just overemphasized your first sentence.
