I think the thing you are missing alkemyst is that not everyone gets a sense of accomplishment out of "gathering items" that don't exist. See those of us with a more evolved sense of gamesmanship know that the only real accomplishment is gained by blowing off the heads of other people in FPS games.
Not saying WoW is evil or anything like that, just saying personally to ME that type of game seems like the most boring thing ever devised. The problem I have is the amount of time it requires to be good, its not necessarily your skill at the game as much as your lack of a life that determines how quickly you can level up or gain items or whatever.
I don't gather in the game unless it's from things I am killing.
That is what people don't understand. I play FPS as well.
In WoW I prefer raids/runs. I am not spending time trying to get every freaking item in the game. Same can be said with those in FPS that don't do crap for the team and just want every kill even if they keep cratering.
That last part is funny. People talk about WoW being this game that sucks your life away....look at freaking HALO and HL...there are guys doing the same thing...any game.
I like WoW as you have to think more than the typical FPS and your chances of being surrounded by a bunch of 8 year olds is a lot less.
