Oh crap! I didn't know I just ordered OEM ram!

Why is this guy worried about having a "lifetime" warranty for this RAM he bought??? It's not like he is marrying it...

Oh yeah, I was reading somewhere that the government puts a bug in all OEM RAM so they can monitor what people are doing with their computers...

Why shouldnt he? If he does we can reassure him its the right ram for the notebook.

Blizzard, ignore these less than civilized barberians 🙂

Don't forget - to get the ram working at its best speed - prise each of the chips off the sticks with any old scrap of metal you have lying around, and then reattach them using the love juices of the lesser spotted african fox.

Failure to do so may result in overheating 😀

At least we barbarians can spell.

wow.. make sure you dont crap your pants buddy or have a seizure when the UPS guy comes. i'm more worried about the warranty on yourself, so-to-speak, as you might need to get yourself 'refurbished' from that extreme anxiety.. defect.

lol 😀 You modern barbarians get all the good schools and cushy classrooms. We had in rough back in the day. Guess I was hunting sabertooth squirrels that day or something.

Hey if I give you my account password will you do all my spell checking for me? Pleeeeze?

Thanks!

At the bottom of the specs you can see where it says "Lifetime ", and no you should have nothing to worry about it's just ram wihtout the jewlery that usually comes with retail stuff ( manuals, ads.....BS),FYI men buy OEM , retail is for syssies 😀

Blizzard, havent you installed it yet? If it works, its excellent. If it doesnt, its merely great.

It arrives tomorrow! 🙂 but i won't be able to install it tomorrow since it's my sister's laptop and she's in college so when she comes back next week, I'll install it for her...

I will post pics of the ram when it arrives!!!

I just RAMmed your sister's laptop yesterday...she seemed pretty happy... so happy, in fact, she asked me for a hard drive next.

This is one hellafa great thread!

And Blizzard, make sure your battery is at least 35% charged or else when you install the ram, you'll corrupt the windows registry!:Q

Laws require us to carry a license to drive cars...maybe we should be required to carry a license to build computers...weed out some of those that just can't get it...and never will.

OEM usually just means it doesn't come with retail box and may have no accessories, now with ram it probably just means no retail box since there really aren't any accessories. At least, that has been my experience - I've gotten OEM HDs and memory before and that was the only difference. they still had all warranties and everything.

Don't worry about it

I nominate for General Hardware Thread of the Year!

Wow...absolutley hilarious.

Blizzard...I'm going to lay this out for you. If you post another dumb question again I'm going to find you and smack you across the head.

1.) Open RAM from packaging
2.) Open Laptop RAM access door (usually held on by one screw)
3.) Take old ram out, notice out it pops up and comes out in a 45 degree angle. Also notice that there is a "notch" where the RAM inserts the motherboard
4.) Line up new RAM with the notch of the RAM in the correct location @ a 45 degree angle, push in, and push down.
5.) Close and screw RAM access door
6.) Power on laptop
7.) Be happy and never post @ Anandtech again.

Hey OP, OEM is perfectly fine, for the zillionth time 🙂

O.K. I think we already esstablished that OEM ram was fine. My new question is, do i install the RAM on wooden floor? What are ways to prevent static without haveing me buy an antistatic wristband?

you have to be a troll...
nobody is this stupid.
