Will having OEM ram void my warranty?

dude, stop askign the same damn questions over! OEM is from the manufacturer. it is not boxed or anyhting. it is retail just comes in retail packaging for proper sale in retail stores. oem is just the item itself. GUESS WHAT!! THEY ARE BOTH FROM TEH MANUFACTURER AND ARE SUPPORTED BY THE MANUFACTURER! THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH OEM!!! HELL, EVEN ON CERTAIN THINGS, I PREFER OEM OVER RETAIL! WHY? BECAUSE ITS CHEAPER AND DOESNT COME WITH ALL THE BVLLSH!T RETAIL DOES SOMETIMES.

What do you mean all the "bs" that comes with retail ram? Having a box that comes with the retail ram is bs?

Here we go again...
I've never had a package from a retailer delivered late, whether FedEx, UPS, USPS, or DHL. You're seriously going to worry yourself into an early grave...

i never said retail ram came with bs. i'm talkin about oem in general how they sometimes include the crappiest of crap stuff, like cpu's. retail hsf's are noisy and are low performing. why bother buying retail when it comes with it and cheap thermal paste/pad? you're basically paying extra for the hsf and hte packaging and paper and ink and etc. there's nothign wrong with oem. as for packaging, choosing ups 3 day will take longer then fedex express saver. fedex express saver takes anywhere from 1 to 2 days, while ups 3 day costs more and takes 3 days for arrival.

Thanks guys, I will inform you if the RAM is good when I install it in about 1 or 2 weeks.

it wont be any different from retail either. any why 1 or 2 weeks? why so long? ram is the easiest thing to install in a computer.

OEM ram = what they ship to Dell and HP etc.... its for original equipment manufactuer

http://www.sharpened.net/glossary/definition.php?oem

Basically your getting ram that will come in a little white box or pastic baggy and nothing else. It usually carries the same warranty etc... just check newegg or whoever you ordered from to see what the warranty is.

The biggest difference besides the lack of a cool box is the price. OEM is generally cheaper than retail, and for most computer parts OEM is a better deal, who needs a box for ram or a cpu? lol

Othertimes the freebies that the retail get are a better value, such as with video cards and motherboards, and sometimes CPUs.

OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer. It's cheaper simply because it does not have the retail packaging, not because of lower quality. A computer company like Alienware would buy OEM cpus, ram, motherboards, everything because they don't need the nice packaging. OEM is usually not allowed to be sold to the open public, only to retailers and vendors.

Everybody already confirmed this. OEM products are brand spanking new products that was placed in a less than fantastic box.

this is the funniest goddamn thread i've ever read here. And no, you made the wrong decision by going UPS over fedex supersaver.

LOL, this was good. However you should not have chosen UPS 3 day, that will void the warranty. OEM should only be shipped fedex express saver.

I'm guessing this is a regular who's bored. No one could be this frickin anal about OEM RAM.

Either way, good thread to read in the morning. Good pick me up. 🙂

He took us all for a ride........

He'll be back asing how to open the package so he doesn't void the warranty...

And then there's the wrist strap question..

yada yada yada

Crucial will not cover negligent shipping and handling. As a result, they only authorize Fedex and USPS as their assured carriers. If you use any other method of shipment, they will assume that improper handling has occurred, and the life of your memory cannot be determined. Thus your warranty is void if you did indeed ship with UPS.

This has to be a joke.....good one BlizzardWolf You actually had me going for a few seconds/posts. I thought you were really worried.
