Most likely some soldier blogged about the inscriptions. Which I am sure are monitored by non-friendlies. Then the story is back in the limelight. It will interest you to know that the company has been doing this for a little over two decades. Something that was well known in gun enthusiast circles.

This is not something that the manufacturer decided to start doing when we went into Afghanistan.

So other than muslim sensibiliites being offended... most people probably do not care.

They're welcome to lobby for different scopes.

Love all the armchairing going on here. When you're under fire and your life is in danger you frankly don't care about such things. In fact having "Jesus is the light of the world" under such circumstances might be of some comfort.

So having it secretly engraved in code on a chunk of steel puts in your mind?
I think it is just bizarre behavior by the founder.
From now on require they not be inscribed like that. Have some grunts file it off on the in field weapons.
Done.

What a myopic view. You do realize that everyone in the world - yes even in our military - is not a Christian, right?

What if all the barrels came with "Allah Akbar" on them?

Trijicon makes some FINE equipment.

JN8:12, for those times when you reach out and touch someone that needs it.

You do realize that the whole world is not a touchy, hard left Heathen, right?

Apparently some people are offended by religious propaganda on military purchases by our government.

Oh, nice touch on anyone not being Christian = heathen. Veeeeery accepting to those of none or other faiths. Kudos fundie.

My question is how do they know 8:12 isn't from peaceful Koran?

"008.012
Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): "I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them."

Makes way more sense to put this verse on killing machinery.

I have a few on my AR's and M16 all 3.5x as it has best eye relief IMO. Got them when M$ was giving 35%...pretty sweet to get a combat optic of this quality for $600.

and the best 2 are the german #1 and the circle dot

Maybe for CQB under 200 yards. They suck ass if you want to reach out and touch something, Mildot is best there IMO.

For up close I like the Red Chevon.

Simply put tip on target at anything less than 200 yards, dead every time. Bottom of chevron is excellent for ranging as it's same size as mans shoulders at 200 (scales accordingly) so shoulders occupying half triangle puts you at 400 yards - then simply dial target over '4' - dead.

99% use Chevron in three gun competitions.

And I just bought a home theater receiver. :\

I use Aimpoint and have an Eotech laying around somewhere, but they are all 1x red dots.

It would be nice to have at least one ACOG like the TA31RCO-M150CP in inventory with magnification and bullet-drop compensation. I also would like to check out one of the compact 3x ACOGs.

Oh well, next time they go on sale, I guess.

I have a aimpoint T1 and a M3. They served their purpose but after learning ACOG, and one with decent eye relief, nothing can match it period. I am just as fast now and gives you precision and target ID at range.

I am actually looking to sell my Aimpoints as I don't use them anymore...you know a good place? Any good gun forums?

I'd caution you check out the TA31's and TA01's with it's terrible eye relief before purchase - have to have eye 1" from scope very dangerous very black. TA11's are superior with 2.5" and larger exit pupil. TA11's are uglier though being so long.

The best is likely http://ar15.com as that has a huge and active user community. Specifically, http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=7&f=23

http://forums.officer.com is a good way to reach the LE community.

That would be different, seeing as the Bible does not command modern day Christians to kill all unbelievers, and the Qur'an does.

Where did the crusades, spanish inquisition, salem witch trials, etc come from? Yes, I realize that isn't happening today but to pretend Christianity is free from violence and intolerance is laughable.

In all fairness both crusades and inquisitions were a reaction to guess who.. Rest I agree with. I am not familiar with the Bible I study Koran but it's my understanding much of the violence was suppressed by new testament Christians are supposed to follow. OTOH the Koran get more violent in later chapters after move to Medina so the equivalence doesn't wash.

Eye relief is likely not going to be that important to me as I go prone for distance shots, use a spotter, etc.

I am intrigued by the opportunity to use the 3-4x magnification for target ID and reticule ranging while still having good close-in immediate reaction rounds on target capability with red dot. And eye relief with both eyes open is a big factor there for sure.

I like lightweight optics as well as low bulk, which, along with price, has put me off from Trijicon. Maybe unfairly.

As a guy who still relies a lot on iron sights, these optics systems are pretty damn fantastic.

Edit: I went to the Trijicon web site to check out the various models and got a better understanding of their Bindon Aiming Concept (dual eyes on target with magnification.) It doesn't seem like it will take any longer to get used to the magnification than it took with a 1x red dot. http://www.trijicon-inc.com/pdfs/BINDEN.swf
