I hope the weather holds up, so far so good. It is supposed to pour tonight though. If they are going to cancel the game (day/ night double header tomorrow and tomorrow?s weather forecast is just as bad), I hope they just cancel it and get it over with. I don?t want to end up sitting there for three hours with the game not being played anyway.
Johnny told me to tell you to relay the message to Rivera: "You better work on that cutter for the playoffs."

Worshipping who, Nomar? Nomar was an icon in Boston, but never came through against Rivera. Cabrera just did. Again, where are all the idiots who said getting Roberts/Cabera/Mientkavicz for Nomar was the stupidest trade ever? We will miss you Nomar, but we have someone who can fill your shoes.

Wow I am surprised you haven't posted anything yet Sp33Demon. I assume you followed the game very closely and you know exactly what happened. Please give us your take on today's 14-4 bashing.

It's 1 game. I didn't expect a sweep. Indeed, when the sox leave tomorrow with 2/3, I'll be quite happy.

It looks like sp33d predicted a 2/3 as well, and that's likely what he'd say.

I'll gladly give you this 14-4 win. Heck, I'll give you the division. I'll keep the 9-6 season series we have, and our first round matchup with Oakland.

You'll likely babble about curses and history, but this is the best Red Sox team in a decade, and they haven't beated the yankees this efficiently in the past 10 years. Straight out of Joe Torre's mouth.

Well, the Yankees have come out and shown the world that they can still win, and that they can get some solid starting pitching. What you have to realize is that Pedro was obviously not Pedro, ditto Derek Lowe (although it wouldn't have made much of a difference in that game), and much of the offense, Manny and Varitek especially, was just shut down. Our best starter this series was Bronson Arroyo, a pitcher whom many have doubted but who has been solid essentially all year. All I can hope for is the Sox bouncing back in their next series and possibly taking some momentum into their series with the Yanks at Fenway.

Can Pedro Martinez pitch a good game at Yankee Stadium for once. Jeez.. I don't see how any Red Sox fan can feel confident that he can pitch a good game there.

...and Derek Lowe stinks.. his ERA stinks and he had ONE great year. You think the real Red Sox can show up next weekend?

Rivera wasn't himself in that game, just like Pedro wasn't Pedro.

Fair enough. I guess you guys picked an extra game up because we didn't send Schilling out there. Now try and come to Fenway and do the same.

9-7, and good luck with the Twins. You'll need it. Would be a shame if you didn't even make the ALCS to play us.

Can Pedro Martinez pitch a good game at Yankee Stadium for once.

He has. Twice this year, in fact.

Been there, beat Schilling, done that.
All that talk of weak NYY starting pitching leads to...one game with 6.2 IP no hit ball, another with Mussina shutting you guys down, and 2 blowouts with combination amazing pitching and hot bats. What more could I ask for?
I won't say sweep in Fenway, but right now we have the momentum.

AHAHAHAHA! Boston fans are really cocky for being 4 1/2 games back. LOL. I was gonna resist even saying anything in this thread because the games speak for themsleves, but you guys talking big when Pedro just got pounded, it just makes me laugh.

What more could I ask for?
I guess you could ask for the 9 instead of the 7. If you can come to town and sweep us, I'll tip my hat to you. Of course, we did that already.

You know what's funny? The fact that the Twins are a far more dangerous opponent to you than Oakland is to us.

You'll probably face Johan Santana game 1, and likely lose. Better pray you win the next 3 games, else you face him again game 5.

Did you see Miguel Cairo's face on Friday? Priceless.

If I were a Sox fan, I'd be more worried about Pedro giving up 8 runs, Lowe not getting out of the 2nd inning and being outscored 23-5 in the last 2 games, then about the Yankees chances against the Twins.

Yeah, it reminded me of Manny's face earlier that game.

I am worried about my team. Derek Lowe is a scumbag who should never be allowed to pitch away from Fenway.

You worried about your closer? You got to Pedro once and seem quite happy about it. We've gotten to Mariano twice.

They got to Pedro in last years ALCS. (Grady Little has some fault.. but he's not the one throwing the balls)

:) You are hopelessly in denial. WE may have only beaten up Pedro once, but the lowly Orioles did it, as did the Rangers and Angels. Scary. Oh, and yes, we got to Foulke too. No, I'm not worried about the bloopers and soft singles that you may get every now and then against Mariano on a night when he's off. The guy has been near untouchable this year, he's LAST person I worry about.

I'd say getting Pedro once and Schilling once = getting Mariano twice.
Plus the Yankees are golden against lefties and, not to discredit Santana, but the way we've been hitting recently, perhaps we can figure him out (at least a little bit)

The Orioles have always beat up on Pedro, and that doesn't matter because they won't be in the playoffs, and the Angels and Rangers are both good offensive teams, both of which may not make the playoffs. If we take 2/3 in the upcoming series at Fenway, I'll be happy enough. Whether or not we take the AL East, the Wild Card will do.
