I finally got around to playing Prey last weekend, what a horrible game. Beat the normal difficulty in a very short amount of time, then sent it back to gamefly. No one was online in multiplayer, and when I actually found 2 other people it lagged so bad I don't think I lasted more than 30 seconds.

I am going to buy one of these used from craigslist. I wanted to make sure this was an ok idea vs buying new. Is it easy to erase all the previous info and put my info in? Thanks for ANY thoughts.

I would be very careful buying a 360 used... as there is no warranty and they are dropping like flies...

buy new.. get the extended 2 year warranty..

if they would make a mouse and keyboard for the xbox360, id play games on the 360 ONLY. imagine playing halo2/cod2/prey/HL2 on the 360 with a kb and mouse. that would be GRRRREAT.

You don't need a specific keyboard for the 360. ANY usb keyboard will work. I don't know if a mouse works, never tried it.

yay M$ returned my 360 to me today.. only 8 days total time from breakdown to return thats not that bad..

it's probably not "your" 360 ... most likely a refurb 😛

That's what I got back when I sent mine in back in March. Was hoping for a brand new one but this one has a December manufacturing date.

I really need to try out some of these system killing games to see if I can get a newer version. 😉

Guys, I need help in Saints Row. I'm stuck on the Vice Kings mission where you have to destroy like 5 or 6 patrols. The mission starts out with you fighting your way to the roof of a building then taking out about 10 bad guys or so. Then you go to the corner of the roof and walk into the blue spotlight and it says "Take out the Vice King patrols"

So I run back downstairs the way I came and hop in my car and take out like 3 or four of 'em, but NO MATTER WHAT I DO, it says that you missed too many patrols. WTF???

Nevermind. I figured it out. I just had to stay on top of the roof and blast them with the RPG. Now to complete "All the Kings Men." My first go around the cops blew up King's truck before I could use the code. Damn pigs! 😀

boy oh boy..all the TGS and live camera stuff is sure bogging down live eh?? I've had problems connecting to live the past 2 days and xbox.com has problems too with the gamercard thing. Don't they have another big show soon?? X06 I think its called.

I haven't read much about the new camera, but I originally thought someone had to be a friend before you could see their video. guess I was wrong, because playing UNO last night was watching this dude sitting back on his couch. Pretty neat, but I don't know if I always want people watching me 😉

Damnit, Bad news for me!
Microsoft insider (with handle "amirm") provides some clarity on the AVS forums, explaining what types of content are allowed over a component connection. If you insist on watching your HD-DVDs at full resolution, it appears you'll have to invest in a VGA cable (and not an HDMI cable).

If your 360 is hooked up via component cables:

Xbox 360 games can be upscaled to 1080p. Titles that run in 1080p natively (none of which currently exist) will also display without a problem.
HD-DVDs will display at 1080i maximum -- you can thank AACS for that.
Normal DVDs will play at 480p. CSS prevents anything higher (though some upscaling DVD players conveniently ignore it).
If your 360 is hooked up via VGA cable:

HD-DVDs, Upscaled DVDs and games can all display at 1080p with no copyright hassles.
If your 360 is hooked up via RF Adapter:

You have bigger problems.

I couldn't care less about 1080p, but I was REALLY wanting upconverting of my DVDs over component. I've only watched 1 DVD on my xbox in the almost year that I've owned it, but it was still a cool feature I was looking forward to.

That sucks we need a vga cable (still, it upconverts now) for the fall update to watch DVDS upscaled. If that HD-DVD drive is 100 bucks or lower though I'll buy it and I guess I'll just use that for upscale-DVDs.

I bought Test drive a week or so ago and...well, I just can't get into it. Am I missing something here? I wonder if I should trade it in for lego star wars or something else new

Couple of questions about the cheaper Core system..

Can the Spring-Fall updates be applied to a Core system, or do they require the hard drive ?

Can an internal hard drive be added to a Core system ? I know it would void the warranty, but I want to know if it's feasible/ legal ?

You can certainly add a hard drive to a Core system - IIRC they cost $99. As far as I know there is no way to add an internal HD to any 360 - there's no room for it, and I don't think anyone has hacked the system to allow use of a HD, other than the Xbox one.
