blah, stop trolling. get this thread back on topic!!! im at 73% in enchanted arms now.. who else is playing enchanted arms?

I got to 34% and had to return it to Blockbuster. :/ Promised my son I would rent Lego Star Wars II for him so I didn't check Enchanted Arms back out.

Still, this is working out because we tell him he has to practice his letters before he can play Lego Star Wars. He's pretty enthusiastic about his letters now.

when he grows up, has a house, and a nice entertainment system centered around a nice 50" television, he'll change his mind. alot of this console-angst has to do with the fact that he sees the PC as his own realm that he can enjoy in the confines of his own room whereas big TVs and living rooms are under his parents' control.

hey Ulf, like CVsin said "You do realize nearly everyone in this thread is also a high end PC gamer....and we all have rigs just as good or better than yours right?"

been there done that.

I'm just showing the console e-penis wavers what a real e-penis looks like, don't get your knickers in a twist. 😉

Okay, I had to edit since I was feeding the troll.

QFT. What that guy fails to realize is that, to a lot of us, our HD sets are a cost completely separate of the 360. Do you think I bought my LCD in order to play a 360? Of course not. I bought it to watch TV. The 360 is just a way to further enhance the experience of having a nice TV and at a much more reasonable cost.

I'll never understand the need to claim superiority of one format over the other because each offers up advantages and disadvantages in relation to the other.

word, im sick of spending $400+ for top end video cards. i spent $400+ for my premium 360 and its been more value to me than any $400 video card has ever been.
i refuse to spend top dollar on computer parts.. im so sick of upgrading my pc every 6 months. stupid new games requiring a crapload of video card punch... sick of it!

QFT.

I used to be a PC gamer in college when I couldn't afford a $4000 LCD TV and a 7.1 Surround system but now that I have been working fulltime for a while, I actually can afford all those along with HD Theater seating in my basement so why should I give a damn about playing a game on a 21" monitor (not to mention that I'll have to upgrade my video card every 10-12 months in order to enjoy the latest games)?

Consoles FTW. Just hoping they'll develop a better control mechanism for FPS games but even that may be solved with Wii =)

if they would make a mouse and keyboard for the xbox360, id play games on the 360 ONLY. imagine playing halo2/cod2/prey/HL2 on the 360 with a kb and mouse. that would be GRRRREAT.

I used to be king at Goldeneye and now can't play console FPS games worth a damn. I wonder what happened.

I wouldnt go that far =P

I still play my PC alot more than my 360..
the 360 has its games it does well but the PC has its game it does better..

Company of Heroes would not work well at all on a console..
and we all know battlefield 2 royally sucked on 360 compared to the PC version and its mod community..

I will always keep my PC up to date. (already planning on rebuilding again for Vista release) BUT there will be a large HD TV in my future before that to go in my gameroom to play PC games and 360 on as well as movies..

i still cant justify paying $300-$400 every 6-12 months for a new mid-grade video card just to play the latest games. i love how consoles can play most new games for a cost of $50-$60 on the consumer end. it may not be as pretty as a built computer... but its not nearly as expensive. imagine how much it would cost me to be able to play UT2007 at medium detail. (look at my rig in my sig.) i have a FX5500 for a video card, i sold my main rig to buy my 360 and i dont regret it one bit.

i'm done paying $400 every 6 months to play the latest pc games. every 6 - 9 months nvidia and ati release video cards that get 10-15 more fps at 1280x1024, and charge $400-$500 for it. its STUPID, and sad that people keep spending money on that crap. 360ftwomgwtfBBQ~

and why do you do that? I sure dont... hell the only reason i dont have a AGP 6800 GT anymore is casue mine burned up and it was playing all my games just fine at 1600x1200.. now my 7900 GT does it just fine and i dont plan on updating my card for at least another year.. if I do anything it will be to add another one for SLI..

and then Ill be set for at least a couple years...

you exagerate just a tad.. I keep my cards til;l they basically cant do what I need them to do.. Im not worried about gaming at 900 fps.. a steady flicker free 30-40 is fine for me.. my old eyes cant even see the difference between 40 and 60 FPS anyway..

looks like my XBox 360 stopped working... will be sending it in.... and I was hoping I wouldn't have any problems with it

XBOX add 1080p support

http://www.2old2play.com/News/Xbox_360_adds_1080p_Support

Nice! Here's a more informative article on it: Text

At their pre-TGS press briefing in Tokyo today, Microsoft announced that the Xbox 360 will support 1080p content through a software upgrade. The "p" stands for parity.

Microsoft's announcement -- which effectively parries Sony's bold claims regarding the merits of 1080p high definition content or, as Sony calls it, True HD -- is their latest move seeking to blunt the impact of the oncoming Sony PS3 hype-train. With the True HD cat de-clawed, Microsoft's mantra of choice will appear even more appealing. It's another bullet point taken out of the next-gen console war equation.

Joystiq spoke briefly with Shane Kim, General Manager of Microsoft Game Studios, about their announcements in Tokyo today. First off, Kim clarified that, while the software patch would upscale all content to resolutions as high as 1080p, Microsoft themselves had no plans to produce gaming content taking advantage of this ability. He was similarly convinced that very few other developers would see the value in producing 1080p games, with the singular exception of Sony's first-party studios, eager to validate the value of the capability.

Similar to the way the Xbox 360 upscales original Xbox games from 480p to 720p/1080i, you'll be able to enjoy your existing Xbox 360 games at the new resolution. As if you needed more proof that Microsoft's adoption of high definition HD-DVD is little more than a strategic move to limit Blu-ray's potential sphere of influence, Microsoft's 1080p software upgrade will also remove some of the value of their upcoming HD-DVD add-on by upscaling your existing DVD movies to HD resolutions, including 1080p.

So, Microsoft just announced that the Xbox 360 will play your existing DVDs back in high-definition -- in addition to being able to play back legitimate HD-DVD content if you're interested -- and they're gonna do it in 1080p. In the bullet point war, Sony better hope that extra Blu-ray disc space is worth it; they'll have a chance to prove it at TGS this week.

So is that saying upscaling of regular DVDs only for the new drive? I'm hoping for upscaling on the regular drive thru component in the next update. But if their new drive gets good reviews and a lot of good movies come out on HD-DVD I'll be picking one up.
