yay! I hope its good because I really need a new baseball game. I still play MVP 05 on the pc (with user mods) but I need something new and at least I get to play against friends on live with 2k7.

Thought about getting Crackdown but decided to wait until I can find it below 40 bucks on ebay. No way I'm forking over 60 bucks for that game and I really don't care about that Halo 3 beta.

Good lord, please no. Microsoft absolutely does NOT need to segregate their product line even further, let alone adding to the cost. IMHO, they are in a position of a consumer perception that they are just as good as the PS3, but a lot cheaper. If they make the cost $479, then I think that takes away from that perception.

I've been a big 360 supporter, but if this comes to fruition, and I had to choose between a $480 top-end 360 or a $500 PS3, the decision would be much, much harder than it was before.

I agree, it's a stupid idea if true. Keep the price at $400 with the new features. Don't tell me that they didn't make a killing selling 20 GB hard drives for 100 bucks.

Personally, I think that number is hogwash a guesstimate at best. IMHO, if anything they may add the new SKU in at 399 and drop the now premium down to 299 while phasing out the core. HDMI and 120gig HDD isn?t enough to warrant a price increase and from the recent talk from Balmer a price decrease seems more likely or just giving the consumer more bang for their buck.

But it's black, that alone warrants a price increase! :Q

I'd get one just for that, but then I'd have to buy a new black edition HD-DVD drive to replace my current normal one :(.

Yea and those things are limited edition only atm, but who knows what the future may hold.

Limited Edition Black Xbox 360 HD DVD Player Revealed

Andy Pennell, a Microsoft engineer tworking on HDi (the interactivity layer for HD DVD), has posted pictures of a limited edition black Xbox 360 HD DVD Player he received as a "Ship-It" award.

We just got some goodies on our team: Xbox 360 HD DVD drives in black! These limited-edition drives were made especially for those of us who helped work on the product, and come along with a black remote control.

Although this was distributed internally at Microsoft, if the company took the time to manufacture black drives and remote controls of its HD DVD player, it is possible that in the future they will be available for sale. Keep your fingers crossed.

Ohhh I will so sell my XBOX and HDD drive to get a black one. I have a strong dislike for consoles being white/beige... there's no real reasoning for it, but it's a personal preference.

Also, I picked up Crackdown earlier... the local EB had about 250 copies already reserved, but they had a couple left over. Unfortunately, Final Fantasy VI Advance was sold out at both EB Games and Gamestop :(.

Hmmm....I would have much preferred the new SKU being $400, the existing $400 SKU being bumped down to $300, and the Core being bumped down to $250 or gotten rid of entirely.

Still, I'm not desperate for HDMI at this point. The 120GB HDD would be nice as well but not necessary since I haven't gotten into the habit of purchasing movies off of Live Video Marketplace.

So let's get some crackdown reviews. I still haven' bought it. Might get it after work, but am unsure.

don't want to spend $60 if I can beat the game in a week and be done with it.

Can get it through gamefly if that's the case, gotta put my $28.95 a month to use somehow. All I do right now is play R6 and let my gamefly games sit.

Even demos can be taxing on the space. The crackdown demo was about a gig afterall.

Hasn't been an issue for me up to this point. I've just been deleting demos that I no longer play when space gets short. I'm sitting at about 1.9GB free right now.

Does make me wonder how much space the Halo 3 Beta is going to take and any future MMORPGs though.

Yea, the guy had a massive box for pre-orders of crackdown at my local eb games as well. I heard quite a few peeps saying they did a midnight launch in some locations.

You can beat the game in like 3-4 hours if you really tried, however the fun comes exploring the game and trying to get all the achievements.

Ditto on the HDMI/120GB version. So only $80 for a HD 6x the size + HDMI over the existing premium? Yea, I'll believe it when I see it.

While I was at EB, I saw that they are taking pre-orders (well, have been) for the 4/3 launcher of Guitar Hero 2 for the XBOX 360. I thought of something kind of interesting from that. Since all XBOX wired peripherals use USB, this means the guitar can connect to the PC. Do you think we will see homebrew Guitar Hero games using the wired XBOX 360 guitar? I believe any game programmed in XNA has immediate access to any XBOX 360-based control device (steering wheel, controller, etc) via libraries.
