Wow - this add-on certainly has much more functionality than the Nyko Intercooler.

Okay, to be honest we're not big fans of that Nyko Cooler device, so when news of the Cooler King came across our news desk we were a little bored by the whole idea. But then we realized that the Cooler King does much more than its Nyko cousin, much more. Not only does it have a fan to unnecessarily remove built up heat in your 360, but it also has a bunch of video and audio inputs. Since it plugs directly into the special 360 video plug, you can now use any standard composite, component, s-video, vga or optical audio plug. And as a bonus gift they throw in four extra USB 2.0 ports on the device. You can buy it from UK Play.com for the low price of £17.99.

Now if they would only bring it to the States.

For those who use their Xbox to stream video... do you ever get annoying horizontal and vertical lines with certain sized video? It's almost like a grid effect for certain videos.

Can't say that I've gotten that. When is this happening to you?

Hey guys, if you have a 360 and a regular xbox, can you use the same XBL account on both without having to recover it each time?
I just got a 360, so I'm curious

I should be able to output 1080p over vga right? I know they enabled it for component but wasn't sure if vga is only for hd-dvd or for games also.

lastly anyone use the cheapo vga ones from hong kong you find on ebay? Microsoft wants 30 bucks for theirs that's ridiculous.

VGA does 1080p...don't have to have the HD DVD drive. Component will do 1080p but there are few sets that accept a 1080p signal over component. You'll end up with 1080i at best more than likely.

You only get DVD upscaling with VGA.

Can't say myself. I've heard mixed results though. Some of the guys from this thread have tried them though.

I was watching an episode of heroes. I forget the resolution, but I didn't have this problem with higher res video. I've only watched 3 things streaming and it's happened once.

No. Once you recover your Live account to a 360 you can no longer use it on a regular XBox, from what all the warnings said.

Really I never saw any warnings about that, I have been doing it for a while with no problem. I was under the understanding it was ok. If all the Xbox games worked on the 360 that would make sense but they don't.

What am I supposed to do stop playing all my xbox live games cause they don't work on my 360....

Def Jam demo beats on XBL this week

Looks like we get to test it out this week. Oh yea, GS says 3/06/07 for the release but not sure.

Electronic Arts is hoping that tussles between rappers not only sell records, but also sell games. The California-based publisher is releasing Def Jam: Icon, the first next-gen version of the hip-hop fighting franchise, on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this March.

To prepare for the game's launch, EA is giving Xbox 360 owners a chance to go toe-to-toe with the game for free. EA has confirmed to GameSpot that a demo of Icon is scheduled to be available on Xbox Live Marketplace this Thursday.

The single-player demo will feature Big Boi--also known as one-half of Outkast--and T.I. as playable brawlers on the Gas Station level. Gameplay will be timed, and the two songs that will keep gamers tapping their toes and kicking their opponents' cans are "Kryptonite" from Purple Ribbon All-Stars featuring Big Boi and "Top Back" from T.I.

Def Jam: Icon is rated M for Mature. For more information, read GameSpot's previous coverage.

I was playing Battlefiled 2 on the xbox just yesterday and I use it on the xbox 360 with GOW all the time.

mzkhadir is right. when my 360 went in for repairs, i loaded up my xbox and played halo 2 w/my live account no problems. then when the 360 came back, i could go right back to my 360 no problems.

Hmm...I stand corrected then. I swear when I got my 360 there were warnings that stated once you converted your Live Account into a subsequent Live Gold! account on your 360 that you could no longer use it on a regular XBox. My bad. :)

I thought the same thing when I migrated my account, but I never saw the warnings you are talking about. I've never really paid any attention because I don't plan on going back. ;)

Ok, I hate WMP11 now.

Despite hearing about other people having problems with it, I decided to give it a try over the weekend. After installing it on my WinXP MCE machine, my media remote no longer worked while playing a video - no rewind, fast forward, pause, stop, etc. I have to go all the way out of the Media Center and back to the Xbox 360 dashboard to be able to do anything. I encoded a couple of movies after installing WMP11 and they play great on my PC but I get no audio or video when trying to stream to the 360.

Ridiculous. I rolled back to WMP10 last night and everything is back to working fine.

WMP11 definitely has a lot of bugs that need to be worked out. I still like it better, but it is taking them forever to fix a lot of these issues.

I liked the updated GUI and the updated codecs did a better job of encoding (smaller file sizes than under WMP10). But it is functionally useless to me as long as these issues with streaming to my 360s remain.

Man...after watching this Developer Diary for GRAW 2, I'm actually more excited about it than I thought I would be.

Here

I really liked the first game...but thought this second game was going to be a rehash. I think they've added a nice number of technical additions along with some fresh gameplay. I still feel some of their "ambient" objects/textures could use some work (like cars), but overall, I thought the game looks good. I really like what they did with the smoke to make it more realistic...that always annoyed me when I saw the "sheats" of smoke running over vehicles.

Ok quick question for you guys - for those running their 360's on TV's in high def - at least in Rainbow Six - do you ever get occasional scenes of "grainyness"? Last night I was playing - forgot if it was 720p/1080i - every so often for a few seconds the screen would get kind of grainy - the textures, graphics for most of the screen seemed to get grainy, then it would be fine again. I haven't noticed that happening in any other game (I've only played PGR3 and a lil bit of the Crackdown demo on it - 46" Samsung 720p) - only seems to happen in R6.

In addition - is it just me, or is there "less" viewing screen available in R6? As in, the top/bottom/sides are all chopped off. Or rather, it appears as if maybe it's trying to display a 4:3 signal on a 16:9 screen, so it's "zoomed in" as opposed to actually being displayed as 16:9. (My roomie's 360/TV is setup right next to mine - it's so apparently obvious when we're loading or even just playing the game) Am I doing something wrong/set something up wrong?

I don't think I've ever noticed a grainy picture while playing R6. I have my display set on 1080i. Granted I only have a 37" LCD and may not be able to see it as well as you can on a 46" TV. The only thing I experience is sometimes when a level first loads, all of the textures haven't loaded and it takes a few seconds for them to show up. Same thing happens in GoW. That's probably not what you are talking about, though.

I also don't think that R6 looks chopped off, but I can check when I get home today. It always looks beautiful to me :D

I get the same thing about the texture loading though - think that's just the image parser trying to catch up with the console. The grainyness - it just kinda irks me - every now and then it just gets kinda grainy. It might have happened during regular TV too - I'll take a look at it - maybe that part is the TV itself, not the 360.

In terms of the screen, here's a pic from IGN:

http://www.melvinchu.com/pictures/r6/rainbowsixnorm.jpg

This is literally what I see:

http://www.melvinchu.com/pictures/r6/rainbowsixMYHD.JPG

The picture quality got jacked when I edited it in Paint, but if you look at the "norm" pic - if you look kinda around the edges you see the faint orange box outline. On my new tv I literally only see what's in that orange box - everything seems "zoomed in". In the 360 settings itself under console it's set to 720p, Widescreen (it's grayed out and can't change it from Widescreen). I'm 99.9% sure I changed the setting on the cable (using component cables) to HD.
