I'm still dumbfounded as to how Microsoft is going to fit a triple-core 3.2GHz CPU and a ATI Radeon R500 GPU into a small box, keep it relatively quiet and cool, and sell it for $299.

AMD and Intel won't have a triple-core product for at least another 16 months. And their solutions will probably require a beefy heatsink. And my X850XTPE needs a huge ass heatsink to cool it down.

yeah... my BS flag is still up

I've seen the motherboard fabrication in a spy video. I noticed it has 2 very large fans what looks like mounted onto one large massive heat sink.

its liqid cooled

Is there factual information backing this? I haven't read anywhere that the cpu is different from a normal PC cpu. How is the cpu crippled? Of course I find it hard to believe that the xbox 360 can have 3 cores while still selling for $300, so I'm assuming that the CPU does not contain all the features that a normal computer CPU would have.

If the cpu is so good, and I assume xbox 320 will sell for around 300 (in that neighborhood, because it has to be affordable to gamers), why the hell don't they put that cpu in PC's??

HUGE difference.

The CPU in your pc does EVERYTHING. The CPU in a 'console' is seriously cut down and only does tasks for gaming and 'some' logic stuff. The CPU for your PC has to do everything and isn't specialised.

If PC game makers made games 'specific' to 'one platform' they'd sure as hell get AMAZING graphics BUT they can't do that. Their games have to scale from a dodgy 1.8GHz machine with 64mb of half assed graphics memory to a beast of a machine = seriously ropey and a lot of hassle.

Console makers pretty much knows the specs are set in stone and build upon that with development.

I still think the specs are hyped, or it will cost TONS, or it will come out very late. If not then I reserve the right to be thoroughly impressed.
