omg, I heard osama was going to buy a million of these!

yeah...I wonder how long it will take before we get the "you can guide missles with this thing" warning like we did when the PS2 was coming out - anybody remember that? (I don't think it was in this country though; it was some other country's minister of something-or-other. Google time.)

I'm still dumbfounded as to how Microsoft is going to fit a triple-core 3.2GHz CPU and a ATI Radeon R500 GPU into a small box, keep it relatively quiet and cool, and sell it for $299.

AMD and Intel won't have a triple-core product for at least another 16 months. And their solutions will probably require a beefy heatsink. And my X850XTPE needs a huge ass heatsink to cool it down.

Jesus, 1 Teraflop?

To put this into perspective, it took over 160 2GHz G5 G5 CPU's to reach 1 TeraFlop.
Not comparable, Big Mac actually benched 1TFlop, this is just all theoretical on the part of the 360. The actual performance will be much, much lower, especially when you factor in all the special cases.

It was Mei Mei, and I giggled when I saw it.🙂

All I have to say is this:

If this comes backwards compatible with the old Xbox games I will DEFINITELY being getting a 360 on release day. If not I'll still get one but just a bit further in the future.

thanks for that clip...i didnt see the mtv thing and am glad that i didnt but even this one didn't have ALL that much actual game demos of any sort...though it was nice to see some specs and the insides of it....thanks again OP

If the cpu is so good, and I assume xbox 320 will sell for around 300 (in that neighborhood, because it has to be affordable to gamers), why the hell don't they put that cpu in PC's??

HUGE difference.

The CPU in your pc does EVERYTHING. The CPU in a 'console' is seriously cut down and only does tasks for gaming and 'some' logic stuff. The CPU for your PC has to do everything and isn't specialised.

If PC game makers made games 'specific' to 'one platform' they'd sure as hell get AMAZING graphics BUT they can't do that. Their games have to scale from a dodgy 1.8GHz machine with 64mb of half assed graphics memory to a beast of a machine = seriously ropey and a lot of hassle.

Console makers pretty much knows the specs are set in stone and build upon that with development.

The system will be water-cooled. It's also supposed to shut down cores that aren't being used (like when you're doing everything else but gaming) to cut down on noise and heat generation.

Supposedly, the contracts and licenses that MS made for the 360 is supposed to be much more favorable than what they had with the original Xbox allowing them to cut down on costs and take better advantage of production cost reductions down the line. I'm interested to see if this will actually work.

Water cooled...nice. I heard that in the video too and was very surprised.

I still have trouble believing these specs are authentic.

Does anyone know how credible teamxbox's sources are?

See my thread below Matt. The specs are listed on XBOX.com, run by Microsoft. 😛

Well, it looks like my wife owes me big time! I recently bought her a new motorcycle and she remarked that I hadn't gotten any nice "toys" lately. Keep in mind that she just got a new living room set also. Anyway, I told her that I'd be wanting my big screen HDTV around the end of the year, so now it looks like I'll have to "accessorize" it with an Xbox360 too. It's gonna be an awesome Chrismas!

I've seen the motherboard fabrication in a spy video. I noticed it has 2 very large fans what looks like mounted onto one large massive heat sink.

Seeing as they're playing Halo 2 on the 360 supposedly, we can only assume its backward compatible...unless of course it's a 360-ported version of H2 (doubtful)
