don't hate cuz the yankees choked.

not hating. but this series isnt even close to matching the intensity of the last series, and at times it simply is boring.

yanks-sox was never boring and drew much more attention. so in my mind, the ws is over. but not officially

Look at the player stats and their salaries and see if they match up. Manny takes a big chunk of Boston's payroll ($25 million) yet hasn't been dominating. (he's playing better than most realize though)

Dead on with the pitching needing to improve. Last night's game consisted of Boston's early lead changing the game completely. Schilling could throw more strikes and high fastballs, knowing a solo shot wouldn't be enough. It also took small-ball out of the equation. It's still surprising there were no bunts to test out Curt's ankle. Mueller was playing in most of the game. His being out of position and worried about the bunt didn't help on his errors as he's an above average 3rd baseman. (brought in for defense initially)
It's not surprising that Torre nor LaRussa bunted to "test" out Schilling's ankle, that's Bush League ball. Torre and LaRussa have too much respect for the game, and Curt Schilling, than to stoop down to the "oh he's injured let's take advantage of it to win" level. They are going to play with what got them there, and that's hitting and playing good ball, mano y mano. Schill's best vs Card's best, none of this bunting sht. Play the game the right way, or don't play it all.

Yeah, it seems as if the Yankees or the Sox would have rolled over this Cards team. They just seem very listless and from watching the first two games, the outcome has never seemed to be in doubt (and I'm definitely not a Sox fan). I suppose I can take solace in the fact that the Yankees may have been the first team to lose a 7 game series after being up 0-3, but at least they lost it to the best Sox team in the modern era. Assuming, of course, that the Sox do actually win. :)

All hope is not lost for the Cards though. In the NLCS, the Cards played much better at home (home team won all their games in NLCS) and they've got 3 in a row now at home. If they really do pick it up the next couple of nights, they might get the momentum going their way and have a chance after all. Especially if Schilling really doesn't pitch again this series.

He's hitting HRs and bidding on Disney World vacations for kids with Down Syndrome Foundations. I'm a Red Sox fan but other than my Red Sox, I gotta say I admire Pujols and the Cardinals. Classy orginazation and players. Compared to cocky, full of ego major leaguers like Sheffield, Bonds, and Arod, I'll take Rolen, Edmonds, and Pujols over those guys any day. Red Sox in 6

Amen! I agree 100%

Bunting against any pitcher who's not good defensively is common. I personally find all "small ball" and "productive outs" to be boring and not a good move against today's talented teams. That said, if the Cards are up a few runs toward the end of the game I expect them to bunt for hits or sacrifice against Pedro or any Boston pitcher. (did once against the shift game 1) The fact they didn't against Schilling is more about being down 2-0 than any ethical issues or bush league play.

Is it just me, or is the World Series not getting nearly as much attention as it seems like it should? The last series were so much more exciting, I think.

Well, the Red Sox/Yankee game 7 did get an 88 share. Hard to live up to that!

He's been overlooked this postseason. The media can shove it, thanks Manny. :)

Looks like it'll be a great game. Hope you (Sox, Cards, and BB fans) enjoy it like I am. So sick of rainouts....

For the 2nd year in a row the Sox/Yankees series was the REAL world series.

If the Sox win, Suppan might become the next Buckner.

He'll have to move out to the boonies, and even then he'll have people come just to pee on his house.

LOL, who would have guessed Ortiz and Manny would be the defensive stars of the game through 5 innings? I certainly wouldn't have. Ortiz threw an absolute strke to Mueller and just got Suppan.

Edit: Woo Trot!!
