Pedro has been masterful tonight.

Yep, had a rocky start but since then he's been lights out
Cards couldn't touch him, but for 3 hits... if Boston wins tonight, this series is OVER.
You say that like you've never seen a team come back from 3-0 down before...
Wanna put money on it? I said it before and I'll say it again, the Cards are finished. This series may as well be over. While I'd like to see Boston win it in front of the home fans, I think they will win in St.L... no way in hell Cards will come back 0-3 to BEAT the only team in history that came back from 0-3, never going to happen.

Wow, the Cardinals got totally outplayed on their own home field. There was no life there after the 3rd inning. I loved it.

Well, this series so far has went the way that I wanted. Boston taking the first 3. Why? Well, now the theory of the curse comes into effect. If some how St. Louis comes back and wins 4 straight than I'm sorry Boston but that would be definate proof of the curse. So this leaves two possible futures that may arise. One, the curse is finally broken and the Bosox did it in great fashion coming back 0-3 against the Yankees. Or two, the curse will never be broken and this series was proof of it.
(BTW I'm unfortunately a Mets fan (gets harder every year), so either future is is alright for me yet I would like to see Boston win tomorrow)

When talking about the Boston Red Sox, it is never over. Imagine them losing the World Series because of "The Curse." Not likely, but man, would that be amazing. Every BoSox player would shoot themselves.

i just voted. cards in 7. the curse lives on!! seriously though how amazing would that be if the cards came back from a 3-0 hole to beat the red sox. that would prove once and for all that the red sox are indeed cursed.

actually right now im just rooting for 1 game out of the cards. avoid the humiliation of gettting swept please.

trivia time... when was the last time a team with the best record in baseball got swept in the world series?

Not likely, while I think St. Louis have great baseball fans, they're not crazy like members of Red Sox Nation are. to Suppan for giving the Sox the W!

I'm going to have to guess the Oakland A's getting swept in 1990 by the underdog Cincy Reds (easily in the top 5 greatest upsets of all time, A's were picked to SWEEP the Reds that year).

He didn't give them sht. That was one run, wow, the Sox still scored 4 and the Cards 1, so it would have been 4-2 as a final. If anything, Suppan lost the game with his subpar pitching.

giving up 4 runs is not exactly subpar. it's about average, considering the lineup he was facing. unless for some reason you are claiming the red sox lineup is below average.

that's the problem with just looking at ERA, just because a pitcher can post a below 3.00 era vs the league does not mean that allowing more than 3 earned runs against a particular team is below par. the fact is, there are better lineups and there are not as good lineups that comprise that below 3.00 era.

4 Runs is pretty subpar for a World Series start, but you're right he was facing the "Miracle Sox", so maybe it was average. But all in all, champions don't give up 2 out runs, they finish the inning out. Also, you can throw ERA out the window in the WS, ERA is a stat derived and averaged from teams that you have faced in your own league many times over. Facing a team you've never pitched against in a high pressure situation pretty much eradicates ERA unless you're a power pitcher with dominating stuff like Pedro, Moose, Randy, or Johan.

Let's not forget that it was 4 runs in less than 5 innings. Plus, after his baserunning gaffe, he seemed lose what confidence he had.

I believe the worst effect of the gaffe was that Pedro escaped the jam and was the old Pedro from then on. I agree with some writers who said that Varitek should be the MVP for getting 2 great performances out of Schilling and Pedro.

good guess they are one of only 2 teams to do it since division play started. the other, 1999 braves got swept by the yankees.

Um, they were teammates awhile ago. Boston wanted him this year when Nixon was out. I don't think Pedro was being an ass at all, he was just joking around as usual but that's not a "story" for ESPN. In the post-game interview of Walker after game 1 he was the jokester right after losing. These two teams seem very friendly, remember Francona talking to Rolen before game 1? Pujols and Walker have shown exceptional class so far and I'd love it if either played in Boston.

btw, Boston batters are getting nailed by pitches this series and take their base. If Pedro or Cornrows would have hit anyone it would be big news and somehow intentional. (none of the HBP's have been intentional this series, just pointing out a double standard) Nailing Bellhorn with the pitcher up next is the only suspect one in the series.

Good Game. Will be interesting to see how Pedro and (I guess) Lowe perform in St. Louis. IMO-The lack of a DH is going to put the Sox at a serious disadvantage either offensively or deffensively... I imagine Ortiz will be in at 1st base, but, not sure on that... can't imagine not, but, how well will he play there? And then AL Pitchers typically don't hit as well as the NL counterparts. So, the Sox will have to play a little differently (manufacture runs) to win in the next 3.

Because I'm a longtime Boston fan and we've been hit hard, I won't be upset if the Cards do take game 3 just so we don't have the scenario where 2 teams fight back from a 3-0 deficit to win the series this year. I'm sure there are a lot of folks in NY dying to see that... ugh.

I think these teams are a good match and it's going to be an interesting series. Go Sox!
I think Pedro will come on strong, as he usually does on extended (5+ days) rest. But I don't think our offense will do much on Tues. Either way, low scoring game, if we can pull it out, thats great.

Game 1 was an absolute steal for the sox. We played horrible ball and still won.

Guess who called the low scoring game.

Predictions for tonight??

I say Cards will take it in extra innings...7-6.
Then Boston will win it all in game 5.

Boston has a good chance of winning tonight. If they don't put the Cards away it might be game 6-7 before they do so. (Schilling then Pedro again)

Boston wins 7-3 and sweeps. If not, it'll be back in Fenway.
