the first game said it all...this is gonna be a wild series...the sox had 4 errors in a game even before they go back to St. Louis with Ortiz on 1st Base....Althought 1 of those errors on Ramirez was questionable - his spike got stuck in the grass and he tripped, that can happen to anybody. Thank god Boston won though.

Have you visited Ted William's restraunt yet ThePresence? :)

Haha, they took the sign down. Mickey Mantle's is my joint to watch big games, I won't stand for it. :)

St.L starters are in for a loooong series... like Brule said, these analysts on ESPN are a fcking joke! Did anyone else read on ESPN.com where one of their azzclown writers said "Even though Boston has Pedro and Schilling, I still give the edge in starting pitching to St.L". Right, good luck hitting Schill when he's even at 75%, or Pedro's newly emerged 93-96mph fastball. Woody Williams was lucky to hit 89 last night...

There was just a news story on what they have to do to Schilling's ankle to get him to play. Yech. Makes me wonder if he'll ever be the same? Is it worth it to screw up your leg for life just to play a game?

To win a World Series for Boston? YES! Also, he's 40 y/o and has already won a World Series, he has nothing to prove regarding his greatness... A Boston World Series victory would just cement his legacy.

I watched (part of) Williams 1 hitter earlier in the playoffs; he's no slouch. The big question is Schilling. Power pitchers can get lit up against good lineups. Against NY he was facing a tired team coming off of 2 hard losses. Here he's facing a group of hitters who can snowball runs and with speed to make him move. Mueller, Variek, and Millar will have to play tight in the infield to take the pressure off. If he throws like he did game 6 there's not much an opposing team can do. Best way to take small-ball out of the Card's arsenal is another 4+ runs early in the game.

Bellhorn for playoff MVP! ;)

Life isn't over at 40. That makes it seem even harder to believe he'd be willing to let them do that stuff to his leg to get him to play. They experiemented on a cadaver first because they never did a procedure like that before.

To go down in history is well worth it. I doubt there is such serious damage to his leg that it will hamper his life after baseball, at the most it'll cut his career a bit.

Actually, he's 37. He'll be 38 middle of November.

Speed isn't everything.

Very true for Boston's pitching staff. When Pedro is hitting 93+ he gives up more hits then when he mixes up a 88mph fastball with his other killer pitches. Even Timlin is much more effective when his sinker leads to ground outs instead of K's. Kim showed the highest speed on the team this year and I think he's working at Dairy Queen this World Series, hopefully not near Boston.

Quick question - What position will Ortiz play when they head to St. Louis? Surely they can't do w/o his bat.
