Congrats Philly, your team played a heck of a series and beat another really solid ball club.

I know what ending years of baseball (and sporting) frustration is like, so enjoy it! :)

greg dobbs had some very heartwarming words about charlie manuel on 6abc. he pretty much said that charlie treated everyone like a son and not a chess piece. looks like that type of management really clicked for people that weren't too fond of bowa's asshole-ness, eg. burrell, rollins, etc.

i must admit that i didn't like manuel his first year here, but he really learned how to be a NL manager and has many of the clubhouse traits that are crucial to a team with this personality  to him!

:beer::beer::beer: TO PHILLY AFTER 28 PHUCKING YEARS HELL YEAH

My friend, I wholly agree with you, especially the whole Larry Bowa as manager interlude, - he practically drove a hard-core gamer like Scott Rolen out of town -- Charlie Manuel has baseball smarts, as opposed to general smarts -- which served this semi-veteran team exquisitely well.

Ok, as promised, here are some pictures of the mayhem currently befalling Philadelphia:

down Broad St. towards city hall

looking south from Walnut

people were throwing all kinds of paper and stuff from their windows

I got lucky and was able to get up to the 7th floor of one of my school's buildings. You can really see how big and crazy the crowd is:

looking down Broad Street again towards city hall

a small section of the crown down on Broad Street

looking south down Broad Street

And finally... some guy getting arrested. There was/is A LOT of craziness going on out there. People were shooting fireworks from windows and I'm pretty sure at one point there was a small fire in the middle of the street. A lot of people decided to climb light poles and were promptly arrested upon descending to the ground. One guy climbed out onto a traffic light and dangled himself off... then jumped right into the crowd. No idea if he was ok... and no pictures/video unfortunately either because I only had my phone at that point and I was too far away.

Red Dawn can sneer all he wants at the national ratings for these games, AND, as far as I am conerned, he can visit his anus in exquisite gymnastic flexibility for all his asshole, donkey-braying nay-saying.

He is a douchebag Dodger semi-lover who married late and wholly undeserved into the Red Sox Nation who can now suck my Phillies Loving Dick.

Yeah I don't know it gets a bad rap but honestly I think it's not a half-bad city.

Wow. Aerial view of Cottman and Frankford in the hard initial white/black edge of the Northeast and that entire major and four lane intersection was thronged as far as the eye could see.

That's pretty much the whole city AFAIK. Broad Street had a crowd from South Street to City Hall that was so thick you could not move at all... no joke. I got caught in the middle of it, I would know.

That was an amazing play in that he sized up the situation in seconds while moving to his right and throwing across to nail the guy.

I am especially happy for Jamie Moyer. 45 years young and a true class act. 22 years in the majors and this is his first World Series and he comes away with a WS Ring.

Damn. The ENTIRE length of Broad Street from Packer to Market is jammed and slammed.

That's a fairly long way, folks, and doesn't even encompass the predominantly negroidal section of Broad North of Market. :p

It's as loud as ever. AFAIK Broad Street is still filled with people... though I think it's cleared up a bit because I hear car horns out there now.

A WINNER IS US! YEAAAHH!

Woo, what a game man. Northeast Philly was awesome, Frankford and Cottman was MOBBED and everyone was honking and high-fiving all over on Cottman and Bustleton. Not to mention the line just to get into Model's wrapped around the outside of the mall lol.

Incredible.. I'm happy for the players most though. Moyer, Manuel, Lidge, Feliz... and now the young guys like Utley and Howard will get one early.

And what about Burrell?! His likely last AB with the Phils and he doubles on a home run swing after going 0-for-13 in the WS. What a way to go out for one of my favorite players, hope he gets a fat contract.

Man I'm still stoked from the celebration!
