With one or two day rest, you can damage Hamels.
And since Philli is not facing elimination, they can afford to let him rest until needed - which is for the must win situation (as Pek pointed out).

If Philli were facing elimination, he might pitch on two full days rest.

OMG, I totally forgot about the free taco. I had to buy a bunch of window blinds from home depot today and forgot about the free taco.

Son of a bitch, I forgot the 9th...

Agree, my team is not even in it and 2 days have seemed like forever, will the Ray's slumbering bats awaken and send it back to St. Pete.? Can the vaunted Philly bullpen secure a WS win in front of 40,000 rabid fans? Can Balfour extort the virtues of a 97MPH fastball without blowing a gasket? oh the drama, God I love baseball...

This Series so far has the lowest rating ever, a full 20% behind the previous lowest which was St.Louis and Detroit in 2006. I bet after this Series is finished it'll be even lower than 20%

careful, you don't want to piss mugs off with comments like that.

I don't know why my lack of sympathy bothers you so much.

meh who cares? it's just because the "big market" teams aren't in it, the baseball being played is pretty damn good though, even though the umpires are spotty at best

The Phillies can't get hits with runners in scoring position, and they're still up 3-1 - if that's not good baseball, I don't know what is.

When your team is winning, it's all good baseball. 🙂 If the Rays somehow manage to win it, then evident, Kev, et al will call it bad baseball and curse Selig's name. 🙂 That last part might already be happening however.

Whenever the game does get played, I'll be celebrating. My top 2 teams are playing. If the Phils win, a beer for the title and a beer for the Rays' great season. If the Rays win, a beer for showing some fight.

So what's the deal, do we resume tonight?

Lord no, didn't you hear? Bud Selig got word that Red Dawn is dissatisfied and has canceled the whole thing.

Cannot wait! Good luck at the game Kev and SoulAssassin, hopefully you'll get to see some history made tonight. 🙂

My slacker friend needs to finish him 3pm meeting so we can get on the road...got a case of Yuengling and a bottle of Jaeger/Red Bull in the ride that is calling my name!

Checked stubhub earlier and the cheapest tickets were still going for $1,000....for three innings of baseball! On a dollar per minute basis I've had cheaper entertainment in Vegas. 🙂

Not to nitpick, for Yuengling is fine beer, but it's not my idea of $1,000 ticket beer. 😉

GO PHILS!

sigh, goddamn it, I hate the city of Philadelphia. I've visited there, and I've never seen a more collective group of angry/rude people in my life (aside from Seoul; Korea, and Boston..those two cities can go fuck themselves too).

wtf? we never threw batteries at players or booed santa.
