How funny would it be if they resumed at 5am and we woke up to go to work and the game was on! Would you call out to work? I probably would do a half day, i.e go in AFTER the game was over. :)

Got fucking soaked and froze my ass off. I went in with gloves and a wool hat and bunch of layers thinking I was going to be warm and still froze my ass off. Wasn't that bad in the parking lot. We got there at like 3pm and my head and stomach are paying for it now. Had a case of beer and small bottle of Jaeger between two of us and I think there's 3 beers left plus what we drank inside. Lost my personal cell phone on the way out I think, belt clip broke...gotta get a shower and go get a replacement. Good thing my boss is in Colorado this week because I am totally abusing my work from home privileges. :)

I did get a foul ball. :)

So how will this work? There was no scheduled game for tomorrow in Philly, thus no game tickets sold. Will the people who were there tonight be allowed to re-enter for the conclusion of the game tomorrow? Do they have to pay for parking again? Logistically, this sucks!!

We are being told to bring out tickets and they will be good for the game. I am assuming we will have to pay for parking again. On the way out there was a million people trying to buy people's tickets off them.

The delay, however, forced the Rays to find a hotel in Wilmington, Del., about 25 miles away.

Hotels in Philly too expensive? WTF why did they go to a different state? 25 miles away? I know there are hotels in the Philadelphia area that are much closer!!!!!

They didn't have anything booked planning on flying out after the game. If there is a convention in town plus people in for the games it happens, all of the hotel rooms can definitely be booked. I work in Wilmington and there's only about 3 or 4 hotels I would think they would stay in and I'm guessing it's the one with the big ass bus parked outside. I should get a bunch of my friends and try to find them and show some Philly hospitality. :)

In the meantime, I need to find some aspirin and caffeine then get a shower and go get another phone so we can do this all over again tonight.

Yeah that was brutal. I stood in the rain with just a sweatshirt on until they called the game.

Ouch! Should have brought a trashbag to poke your head through. Hopefully your ticket didn't get wet.

Fixed...and I wouldn't sell it unless it was a sick amount.

edit: I just checked ebay and non-game used balls are going for $30. Signed ones from various players are going from $150-225. Funny, one signed by Matt Stairs is going for $25...he actually devalued it by signing.

Also, now that my hangover has gone away and I really don't feel like firing up the laptop and vpn'ing into work to do anything productive I realize I have nothing better to do than post in this thread all day. Meh, maybe I'll go take a nap...friggin woman went to work early this morning and closed the bedroom door and didn't close the front door all the way, it blew open...the bitch turned the heat on last night so now you've got the front door open blowing cold air in on the floor where the thermostat is. The heater must have been running constantly for a couple hours because i woke up and couldn't breathe it was so hot in there but I was so hungover I couldn't get out of bed for a while. That sucked, remind me to beat her later. ;)

Anyways...

I suspect Hamels will come out a pitch for one more inning, then the eight is going to a bunch of bull pen people, then ninth is going to be the guy that finished Game 4 (don't know is name).

No, they absolutely won't do that, guaranteed.

Edit: First of all, his pitching Wednesday would only be 1 days rest. Secondly, even if it were a full 2 days rest, they just wouldn't do it, for a wide variety of reasons.

What they WOULD do is start him in the 7th game on 3 days rest if it gets that far.

Hamels is young, and has gone longer and pitched far more innings this year than ever before.

Cole also has a long history of injury. He has held up very well this year, but they will not gamble with him.

Starters used to four days rest, including Hamels, have gone on 3 days rest in dire situations, with mixed to good results, but almost NEVER on 2 or 1 day(s) rest.

The main reason is the whole rest, treatment, stretch, workout routine which is critical to keeping a young arm healthy and able enough to perform the incredibly taxing and wholly unnatural, repetitive and stressful job of making a team full of the highest level of professional hitters miss the damn ball with sufficient frequency to win.

Relievers are FAR better suited for short stints, and the Phillies have a stable of good ones.

It's their job, and Madsen, Romero, Eyre, (please not Chad Durbin) and Lidge will get the call, with Cole held in reserve for a deciding 7th game, if needed.

no way they start cole. not only because of the work load and injury concerns, but also because the bullpen has been solid thus far and is well rested but not to mention cole's spot is due up next to bat. you want to get a pinch hitter in there to try and increase your chances of getting the lead guy on, getting him in and handing over the lead to the bullpen. and hamels would still qualify for the 5 wins postseason record if they should score in the bottom of the 6th. also if it came down to a game 7 you will need your ace to be on some kind of rest, even if its only 3 days.

edit: not to say im totally against it though... im just glad to see a san diego born and raised kid doing so well and hope nothing but the best for him. i want him to see him notch that 5th win, and im glad he's receiving all these accolades.

Once again, there are 9 innings in a full baseball game. Cole pitched 6, Lidge for 2 as you say. You are still missing an inning :)
