he's a keeper... his job is to protect that net, whether it's with hands, feet, or face. i couldn't believe the lack of testicular fortitude of that keeper. he'd have been cut off my team if i was a coach and saw that. i mean, seriously, what a pussy...

i'm still pissed about that "foul" that stole our winning goal. the screen said "offsides" and, had it been pre-1990, it would have been... but offsides rules have changed and edu wasn't offsides when the ball was played to him. now, they're talking about edu having a foul called on him and it wasn't an offsides... i just have no idea. i do know that that stupid african ref won't ref another world cup ever again.

i'm watching the germany game right now... i tivo'ed it. man, i can't believe this ref... he's absolutely absurd. he's really got a boner for carding people for playing soccer.

IMO, the Germany/Serbia ref was worse than the US one. Yes the US one made two horrific calls, but the other ref gave out countless unwarranted yellow cards. Sending Klose off in the 37th minute was atricious.
 
Hehe with Germany loosing,France loosing ,Spain loosing,you can't say its has been one sided.

I wonder what the next big upset is going to be 🙂.

I am cheering for USA and Algeria though that is kind of hard to pull off. Slovenia got lucky against Algeria.

Think it was more reflex than anything else to move his face. From that close in, he had no options really.
 
I'm surprised people think Algeria is the worst team in the group, I think Slovenia is. They beat Algeria on a lucky goal (I didn't see it but that's what everyone here seems to think) and by all rights lost to the US. I think England will beat them handily. I'm much more nervous for the US club, Algeria looked very comfortable holding possession. I could easily see the US tying Algeria (or even losing) while England trounces Slovenia.

I don't think it's that they didn't play with urgency, that back line has to be the worst defense they've ever brought to a world cup. It's embarrassing to watch. Bring Alexei Lalas out of retirement or something. Our midfielders and forwards are fine and our goaltender is our star, but every time there is a cross inside the 18 I shit my pants.

Going by standings, Algeria is by far the worst team. FIFA has them ranked at 30, while Slovenia is 25. And if you look at the Soccer Power Index (SPI) rankings, which is supposedly better, Algeria is ranked 72 (second lowest of any team in the World Cup), while Slovenia is 26

agreed.

either way, they're both awful and, as the commentator said, "football should never be a game decided by the refs"... the ref during the us/slov match did that... just the same way as the ref in the mexico/south africa game did.
