Everyone's saying we want to avoid them in the next round... I mean, I'd like to see it, but do we really want to play the hosts at this stage?

BTW, are we having an official England vs T&T thread? I might start it.

well, Germany's defence does not look that good. I'd fancy England to win, rather more than playing a side like Ecuador where the media and fans would think it's a foregone conclusion.

With the exception of Ballack, I think Germany are a really ordinary side

He looked fitter than Owen I have to say - Owen is really struggling at the moment.

Happy with the win and Rooney back but we need to improve our performance a great deal.

I thought Rooney looked pretty good all things considered and it is a big bonus for him to get some playing time in two matches before the knockout round.

Today's predictions: Netherlands over Ivory Coast in a close but exciting match and Argentina are going to dominate S&M although the score will not reflect that. Iran/Portugal will go down to the last moments and the Czech Repulic will tie Ghana (OK, I just WANT that result...)

Argentina are looking awesome at the moment - already 3-0 up and it's not half time yet!

I agree that Holland and Ivory Coast will be close.

Isn't Czech Republic v Ghana tomorrow?

Great to see Rooney back yesterday - he should probably start against Sweden. We need to find out what's going wrong with Michael Owen - he looks a shadow of his former self at the moment.

lol - even so, think back to his goal against Argentina last year. It typified everything about him as a predatory striker. He seems out of confidence and woefully short of pace at the moment.
