Yardage wise but defensively I look at Points Per Game, and at 21.9 ppg the Chargers are pretty much middle of the pack.

Yardage as a stat makes more sense. They are allowing lots of points on special teams so its not their defense's fault. They are #1 in passing YPG allowed, and #3 in rushing YPG allowed.

Those stats mean more from an overall defensive standpoint than PPG allowed. Especially when Rivers has thrown a few pick 6's, and their special teams plays the way its been playing.

Other teams in the NFL have given up pick 6's, fumble recovery for TD's, and TD's on both kickoff and punt returns. I wish I could find a site that bases PPG given up by the defense alone.

I seriously doubt a wildcard team will come from the division and put it at high probability that the colts won't win the division this year unless they have a cache of uninjured players they have as yet not revealed.

Even then it is hard because a QB could throw a pick at the goal line. Then the defense comes on for one play and likely gives up a touchdown to no fault of their own.

No other team has given up as many TD's on special teams, period. And no team has turned the ball over in the red zone or reverse red zone areas as Norv Turnover either.

This video makes me laugh btw

and now it starts getting ugly....

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants suffered more than a heartbreaking loss in Philadelphia as the team announced that wide receiver Hakeem Nicks will be out for approximately the next three weeks with swelling in his lower right leg.

Nicks took a hit in the leg during the 27-17 loss to the Eagles on Sunday night and is being treated for compartment syndrome, or swelling in the lower leg that compresses nerves and blood vessels.

According to the Giants, Nicks underwent a fasciotomy at the Hospital for Special Surgery on Monday afternoon. Compartment syndrome can lead to muscle and nerve damage if not treated immediately.

Dr. Victor Khabie, co-chief, Orthopedics and Spine Institute at Northern Westchester Hospital, said a fasciotomy is an emergency procedure to relieve the pressure.

"If it is not decompresssed, there is no oxygen or blood flow getting to the muscles and the muscles die and you have permanent damage to the leg muscles, which obviously for an NFL receiver would be career ending," Khabie said.

Khabie said in fasciotomy, surgeons cut the fascia, the tight covering over muscles, to reduce the swelling.

"You know that boxing movie where Rocky's his eyes are swollen and you got to cut the eye to relieve the pressure," he asked. "It's kind of like that."

Khabie said how soon Nicks returns depends on the amount of muscle damage suffered and how many compartments had to be cut to relieve the pressure. He said surgeons might have to repeat the procedure in a couple of days to clean out any dead muscle, and that might sideline him for the season.

With Nicks expected to miss the next three weeks, the Giants are now down to three wide receivers in Mario Manningham, rookie Duke Calhoun and the recently-signed Derek Hagan.

Pro Bowl receiver Steve Smith is expected to miss another week with a partially torn pectoral muscle.

This is the third wide receiver the Giants have lost to an injury this month. Smith has been out for the past two weeks and Ramses Barden was placed on injured reserve last week with ligament damage and a fracture in his ankle.

Now the Giants have lost their best wide receiver for almost a month. The Giants will have to sign another receiver but it will be very difficult to replace Nicks, who is tied for third in the NFL with 62 receptions. He has 800 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. Manningham has 38 receptions for 500 yards and four touchdowns this season.

"When you got your top two receivers out, that is always a big blow," Giants quarterback Eli Manning said. "But we learn how to fight through it. Other guys got to step up and we got to run the ball and get guys open. I got to play great football."

Manning added: "Having Derek here last week will help. He will have another week. Mario will have a big week and I got to get these tight ends into the mix. We will have to be kind of creative with some formations and personnel and get some of these young guys, whether it is Calhoun, and let's go play."

Manning can ask his big brother Peyton what it is like to lose so many offensive weapons. Peyton Manning and the Colts have lost several offensive players this season to injuries.

"Moaning doesn't help," Manning said. "You start complaining about it ... it doesn't fix anything. It just makes it worse."

The Giants (6-4) host the Jacksonville Jaguars (6-4) on Sunday.

Damn. So many offensive weapons gone and Manning having one of his off years. Last year it was our horrible defense, now it's our horrible offense + Dodge. Hard to put one of the leading scoring teams in the horrible offense category, but that is what you get when you turn the ball over every other down.

Garcon has dropped way too many catches that he has to make. Unfortunately, the Colts have no choice but to keep him at this stage with Gonzalez and Clark out and Collie on the mend.

I think even Manning hates him. He threw to him on a play that it looked like some sort of miscommunication between them. Chances are, Garcon forgot his route and Manning was PISSED. I *think* it might have resulted in the 2nd interception of the game. The camera cut to Manning after the play and he threw his notes to the ground, very uncharacteristic of him.

Well, one play, Garcon cut outside and Manning threw down the middle, expecting him to run down the seam. It wasn't picked, but a Pat did touch it. I don't know which of them screwed up, but I'd bet it was Garcon.

I could even live with those occasional screw ups if he'd catch the damn ball. He'll make these incredible one-handed circus catches but miss the ones that hit him in the hands. I told a friend last season that the Colts should have dangled Collie or Garcon as trade bait once the season ended, since Gonzalez was going to be back and they wouldn't have room for all these guys. Too bad they didn't trade Garcon.

Did anyone get an explanation from Seymour about that? It seemed so out of character for him to do that and just so damn random o_O
Seymour was ejected last year for hitting a player after the whistle so it's not exactly out of character for him.

Roethlisberger claimed all he said was "let's get ready for the extra point." Seymour claims he doesn't remember anything being said to him. Chris Kemoeatu says that Seymour lashed out because of some chippyness between him and Seymour and that Big Ben was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

iow, we'll probably never really know what happened.

Whatever the reason it doesn't warrant what Seymour did. As much as I enjoyed watching Crotchesburglar get decked, and every subsequent replay of him getting ktfo, $25K is a ridiculously low fine. Harrison gets $75K for a hit during a play and Seymour only gets $25K for slugging someone after the whistle? Stupid decision by Goodell.

Did anyone tell Ron Rivera the game kicked off at 5:40? Was he still in the bathroom on that drive?

Oh, I agree 100%. He knew pressure was coming on the backside and he should've just eaten the ball for a sack. IIRC, they had at least 2 timeouts left so it wouldn't have been that big of a deal had he gone down. I won't say Manning cost us the game because you will never know what might have happened, but I can say that 3 turnovers won't help you win.

The Colts aren't playing well now and to be honest, I am shocked that they were in a position to win it. You're looking at a team that took the ball away from Cincy 5 times and could only win by 6. And let me repeat it again -- Garcon pisses me off. Please Collie, get better and come back!

Well let's hope the schedule makers continue to have a Pats/Colts game every season, always seems to be one of the better games of the season, that's for sure, every game they play is just a lot of fun to watch, you know Manning going to figure out what coverage scheme you trying to use, it's just about how long it takes and how much damage he can inflict once he does, those last 2 TD drives took like 2-3 minutes for each, Gillette stadium all of a sudden got real quiet real fast in the 4th quarter..
