Yep, I just heard about this as well. Good news for the Vikings. Bad news for Favre.

At this point there's no way they can get to the playoffs unless by some miracle they win out and both the Bears and the Packers completely collapse. But realistically, they were pretty much out of it when they lost to the Bears last week.

I hope Frazier benches Favre. It's time for him to stop playing. I don't expect Jackson to do super well but anyone would be an improvement over him right now. He is quite possibly the worst starting QB in the NFL right now. More importantly, I think he and Chilly were a drag on the team.

While I would love NOTHING more than seeing Favre benched, I just dont see it as happening. If they had ANY faith in Jackson, I think it would have already been done. I don't think THEY think that Jackson is their future. So what do you gain by putting him in now? More Ls? Being tagged as the guy/team that ended Favre's career/streak? I dunno.... Frazier is entirely damned if he does. damned if doesn't

It's pretty amusing that the two coaches fired so far this season both took their teams to the playoffs last year. I guess that just demonstrates how big of a letdown they've been.

I bet it feels really good to be a Packer fan today. :) Not only did you lay an epic smackdown on one of your major foes, but your old, washed-up geezer of a QB probably cost his coach his job. LOL!

I know Mike Singletary is incapable of fear. But Mike Singletary should be scared.

Poor Mike Singletary. I didn't even have the heart to make fun of the guy this week. Next week, the 49ers play the Cards in that week's version of the Toilet Bowl. Other thoughts:

...
7-9 will win the division this year.

Meanwhile, in San Francisco, Mike Singletary reads the news of Chilly's demise and thinks to himself:

"DAMN!!! I'm next!! We gotta win against the Cards!"

Packers play Atlanta next Sunday. I don't see them firing their head coach.

So if you want your head coach fired, or are sick of your quarterback, just schedule Green Bay. In one season we've had a hand in firing two coaches and introducing the league to Mike Vick.

I don't disagree with your assessment above, but I do find this funny coming from a Jets fan whose team has barely survived against very mediocre competition the past few weeks.

You mean mediocre like the Lions who were making a game winning drive against the pack before they fudged it up and lost the game, or the Bills who took Baltimore to OT and put up around 40 against the Pats (oh wait, jets crushed them), or the browns that steamrolled the pats and have the steelers and ravens afraid of going to the dogpound for the first time in years. Yeah, those 2 losses for a combined 10 points are looking real bad right now. And it's all about total team rankings, Jets O, D, and special teams aggregate rankings will have them easily as a top 5 team. Pats on the other hand would struggle to get into top 10.

And I hear now that chilly is gone, another one in the right field bleachers I'd say. :)

The Chargers have the #1 offense in the league, the #2 defense in the league, and a sub-500 record to go along with it.

And the chargers also have a sub 30 special teams.

And how exactly did they lose most of their games?

Their special teams aren't that great but it's mostly the turnovers.

It is amusing that they have the top offense and defense in the league and can't win.

Reminds me of Felix Hernandez. Phillip Rivers has put up big numbers and the team loses.

Oh Ye of little faith.
Believe is Rodgers and all will be well.
Come cold weather he will grow the mustache and/or beard back and all will be well :)

Honestly though, while I do agree that the running game is...well... "lacking", I do feel that it will be enough come inclimate weather. Coupled with our D playing well etc. I think it still puts the Packers in a fighting postion. Would I like Grant and Finley back? Oh man... yes. Could you imagine?

I'm not CONFIDENT in Ws later on, but I'm not worried either. The Bears will be a W. Mark my words.

My biggest fear is the offensive line gives it up again, killing any chance of a running game and letting the pressure get to Rodgers (again). It's the biggest reoccurring problem the Packers have IMO. Born, raised, and still live in Wisconsin btw, so you can add me to the Packer Nation Census. Just don't mention the Packers of the 80's or I'll kill ya. D:

After the first Vikes/Packer game this season in GB I didn't think it could get better with Favre limping off the field bruised and battered. I was wrong, LOL Chilly, GL Favre.

Actually, they are #1 in both of those categories as well as #1 passing offense and defense

http://www.nfl.com/stats/team

Wow, that's sad that they can't win the games. The graphic last night said they were #1 in offense and #2 in defense, so my guess is that once they play tonight, they'll probably be #2 in defense again. Of course, they're playing Denver, so who knows what will happen.

Your Jets homerism is comical. At least I can admit that the Colts have been stinking it up, whereas you make excuses. The Colts have had horrific special teams in most of the last decade and have still won and won big.

The Jets have been far from dominant against less-than-stellar competition lately, something you've enjoyed pointing out with respect to the Giants.

I guarantee the Chargers would trade their top 5 rankings for the Patriots' record right now. And their offensive numbers will only inflate since they have to play the Colts porous defense.

What's to make up, they lost to baltimore by 1 point and only gave up 3 points on D to the pack, tell me how many teams wouldn't take that record. Stop being such a whiner just cause chokeyton manning is already out of it this year.

I didn't say that teams wouldn't want their record, but you act as if the Jets are the dominant team in the league. They're not and I have a feeling that they're going to be in for a rude awakening when they travel to Foxboro. The Jets season is unfolding exactly as most of us predicted -- stifling defense but inconsistent offense.

Don't you worry about Peyton -- maybe Sanchez can be the waterboy at his HOF induction ceremony. If he's lucky.
