What's more of an atrocity . . . US soldiers summarily executed in the theater of war or hospitals losing power (granted, most hospitals have an emergency power source)?

I think both are abhorrent, should be considered war crimes, and prosecuted (persecuted according to W) to the fullest extent of the law . . . granted the US doesn't believe any such authority exists in the world . . .

I'm sorry, but if those hospitals are powered by the same power line or electrical power plant that supply electricity to the city air defense system, does that mean we can't hit those power plant ? If thats the case, Iraqis will just reroute everything like that, just like they hide behind women and children. :Q

That said, perhaps it's time to show the 'true' might of the US military?
So far, this has been a war fought with kid gloves? Sound familar? Think Vietnam.
Remove the goddamn kid gloves or we will see many more executed American POWs on TV
and we might even lose the war.

War is war. There is nothing humane about it.
So why try to fight a 'humane' war resulting in massive increases in Coalition deaths?
Simply lay waste from the safety of submarines, ships, and high altitude bombers.
Then whatever is left can be rebuilt.

We are already hated. Most of the M.E. wants us dead.
Let's give them even better reasons to hate us than they already have.

i fvcking agree.
they should carpet bomb baghdad.

Since Americans on this board are getting so much flak for how much our Cruise missles and JDAMs cost.

We should just save ourselves some money and use dumb bombs with all the bombers in our military WW2 style.

Explain yourself soldier . . .

I think people in the past do that so that it makes it difficult for commands to reach down to the troops -- no power and you can't communiate that well.

Personally, I didn't really like it when we did it in the first Gulf War. I think we were trying to make life miserable for the civilians (by taking out power and water) in hopes that they would revolt against Saddam. I thought this was a poor idea -- I wouldn't have the bravery to revolt against Saddam's armed soldiers. All it did was make life miserable for the civilians.

When one is planning for battle, there are typical targets that are always pre-planned. Some of these targets would be:
power plants, bridges, communications towers/facilities, fuel/ammo depots, military complexes, road intersections, hilltops.
The idea is to cut off communication, supplies and "kill people or break things" as we used to call it.

Take THAT, mud! Nobody messes with Iraq!

They think they shot an aircraft down, however all aircraft are accounted for(except for blue on blue and accidents).

There is now a report coming out of the Jerusalem Post (highly respected paper even if you are anti-israel) that US troops took over a Chemical Plant.

Here it is

Ther is no confirmation, so we will see later on today if there is.

A bit OT perhaps, but I just heard that some WWII heros, who were awarded French medals, are now returning their awards to the French.

I really hope it was mud and propaganda than the two soldiers who reportedly bailed out of an aircraft.

I think the torture and killing of POW's by Iraqi forces gives the US the right to use the EMP bomb. Hard to show videos when all of your electronic infrastructure is melted.

Who expects those dirtbags to play by the rules? And why should we?

Luckily, we have guys like Rumsfeld and Bush who won't take half measures. (read: won't f*ck around with them)

God bless all.

I think the US will use EMP on Baghdad the day before we are in position to attack it.

What would be the point of the war then?
I thought we were liberating the oppressed Iraqi people, not eleminating them in mass genocide..

Funny they'd name it Operation Iraqi Freedom then aye? (I know its not the reason for the war, but hey I didn't name; it was obvioulsy named that way to appease people of the world)

We can't resort to genocide as retaliation for their army trying to shock us with their torture of troops. Its what they do and we knew before hand that they did these types of things; the Iraqi people are not the people doing this. Their army is. Genocide would make us no better then them.

Their are casulaties in war, there always has been, but lets all not get into the frame of mind of kill anything that moves.

I agree, to resort to carpet bombing or any method that promotes mass killings of the Iraqi civilians would be an act of the enemy themselves. The United States carries responsibilities because of what it is, a world superpower and under constant criticism. The fact that we don't and won't drop down to their level adds to my list of why I am damn proud to be an American.
