Sorry to add a bit of San Diego info to this Venice thread, but Sparco is now showing an ETA of April 29 for the 4000+ with E4 stepping (ADA4000BNBOX).

hmm, just another paper fantasy of AMD's, I guess. That puts its release a whole month behind their announced date of April 15.

I've been sleeping. I didn't even realize a 3700+ E4 chip was in the pipeline. What's its operating frequency? I guess it'd have to have a 1MB L2 cache. Now I'm reconsidering my plan to go for a 3500+ Venice, considering the 3700+ San Diego is only around $60 more at Sparco. But I'm going to wait for reviews of both to see what kind of headroom they have. It may turn out that the 3200+ offers far more bang for the buck. At least it's hard to imagine either of the former offering the 40% percent overclock that PC Perspective squeezed out the 3200+ on stock air cooling and with no voltage goosing.

And they are also releasing a 3500+ 1mb L2 San Diego:D
3500+ at Sparco 2.0ghz 1mb L2 cache

updated 4/14. Not much to add, just that monarch is talking three weeks for their stock to get in. Makes me glad my winchester is coming today.

We do currently have these on Pre-Order, we're currently looking at May 6th on the Rev E cpus. Obviously this may change, but this is the best date we've obtained so far. I will keep you guys posted on any information I receive on these chips.

Note: All prices are for retail 3000+.
EDIT 1: OK. Newegg doesn't have Venices, only winchesters.
EDIT 2: Hmm...did a quick look on Pricewatch (not that they're totally relable) and got nothin'.
Update: Looks like the ETA for most places is Monday, April 18, 2005.
Udate again: Froogle is listing 10 confirmed resellers for the venices:
OK! First one I found, was at ncix $179.61, but they're out of stock.
Froogle has 10 listings right now:
BLT $167.05
needthese.com $162.00
sparco.com $154.07
buy.com $165.99
systech $169.76
Kernel Software $161.77
Neutron USA $163.24
Computer HQ $168.10
Best Selections Unlimited $164.95
Sale On All has a listing at Froogle for the amazing(ly high) price of $192, but their website is 404.
Everyone's still sold out though, or preordering.
EDIT (yet again): Monarch's Talking about a good three weeks before they'll have them in stock (hearsay, but its from their forums.)

Why is the 1MB 2.4ghz 3700+ rev e cheaper than the 512kb 2.4ghz 3800+ rev e listed for presale on monarch. This mess is really getting confusing.

The 3700+ is 2.2ghz not 2.4ghz, maybe this helps explain the price diff? And the 3500+ san diego will only be 2.0ghz.

The way I see it

4000+ SD = 3800+ venice plus 1mb L2 and sSOI (both @ 2.4ghz)
3700+ SD = 3500+ venice plus 1mb L2 and sSOI (both @ 2.2ghz)
3500+ SD = 3200+ venice plus 1mb L2 and sSOI (both @ 2.0ghz)

Evidently AMD feels the additional cache and sSOI justify the increased rating

I guess this is consistant with the past

4000+ Hammer = 3800+ newcastle plus 1mb L2 (both @ 2.4ghz)

so the change from 512k to 1mb cache is worth 200 rating points?

Do we have any expectation as to how San Diego will overclock as compared with Venice of the same actual GHz?

I think the expectation is that the SD will overclock slightly better because of the move from DSL+SOI to sSOI. But we are all just guessing at this point. I just wish they would stop this "Paper Launch" crap, I'm getting really tired of the anticipation game. SLI was launched 10/19/04, and I was one of the first to get an SLI board on 12/13/04. Following that pattern we may not get these new chips in our hands before June:(, then the dual cores will be paper launched and probabally show up in August

Anyone notice the absence of the ADA4000BNBOX on Monarch's site? They only list the OEM 4000+!

Are you sure. The specs listed on monarch have it at 2.4ghz

http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant...Product_Code=120207&Category_Code=NA_2

No I'm not 100%, but 2.4 doesn't make sense, if it ran at the same clockspeed and cache as a 4000+(hammer), + SSE3 + the newest core with sSOI how would it be PR rated 3700+?, I think Monarch has a boo boo.

*edit* Yeah Monarch is in error. Look at the 4000+ BNBOX it has the exact same specs. No way can the same cache, same core, same clock speed = 3700+

I wonder why they don't list the ADA3500BNBOX?
