980 GTX in SLI... Stock Settings.. Fresh out of the box

I think the low fps has to do with card 1 throttling at 80C. :\

I get my koolance waterblocks in on wednesday.
I'll try breaking 3k once those are mounted.

FPS:
51.3
Score:
1293
Min FPS:
19.8
Max FPS:
108.4
Hopefully it makes the top list
Budget built pc air cooled, 1600mhz ram, decent overclock all around, runs loud and cool
Cant upload the image directly, because i dont have a url
would be a good place to compare benchmarks if interface was easier

Decided to run the cards at 1400MHz core at max boost and 7500 memory (1875MHz). It should run that 24/7 easy. I also bought an Asus Rampage V Extreme. It runs DDR4 at 3000 (1500MHz). The CPU is still at 4GHz. Gained a few frames per second.

That was my score on the new $600 system I built

You can't link it like that, You have to take a screenshot and use a hosting service. There are many free sites to host pictures from.

This is a rather old thread though.

So last night I started overclocking my MSI 970 Golden Editions.

At stock voltage the highest stable OC I was able to get was Core: 1514 MHz (+208) and VRAM: 8610 MHz (+400). This gave me an fps of 114.9 in Heaven at 1920x1080 w/ maxed out quality settings, 8x AA, and extreme tessellation.

Turns out the GPU I have in my prime 16x PCI-e slot is the card that is the weakest link in the SLI configuration. It is the card that fails when I push higher. This GPU has an ASIC quality of 67.2% The Second GPU has an ASIC quality of 60.1%... So for people concerned their GPU's post low ASIC scores, don't fret, it's a useless metric. I have yet to pull GPU 1 and see how far GPU 2 can go, but I will jump into that this weekend. At that time I will also host and post some screen caps showing scores/performance to verify these claims.

In the meantime, does it make any sense for me to swap GPU 1 & 2, so that GPU 2 is in my lead 16x PCI-e slot?

Woah at the minimums.

Although, I must add that when running this bench, I have to believe there is some occasional problem between scenes, because a run can be completed with little visual stuttering, but the minimum fps can drop dramatically at certain points.

If the OP's rules are to be followed, we might encourage him to actually update the scores, which are over a year out of date.

Today i had the privilege of testing my new rig. Mainly used for photoshop, video-editing and heavy gaming.

Im totally in love with this cpu and motherboard :awe:

Edit; this was on 1367core /1753 mem

Little late to the party, but I've been working on my BIOS and think I've finally hit a sweet spot. Not too shabby for a single GPU!

Reference GTX 980 w/ modded stock BIOS @ 1555MHz/2005MHz (8020MHz effective) (air cooled)
i7-4790K @ 4.7GHz (air cooled)
Z97 Fatal1ty Killer
Team Zeus Blue 8GB 1600MHz 9-9-9-24-1N
(2) Intel 530 240GB SSD

I ran the benchmark at the absolutely highest settings for 1080P:

DirectX 11
Ultra quality
Extreme Tessellation
8xAA
Fullscreen
1920x1080

nice score vivianv! You should re-run the benchmark but with the max settings and 8xAA as I'd be interested to see how my 980 at 1555/8020 stacks up against SLI 980's at 1367/7012 🙂

New to the party...
My 3 way GTX 780 ti/4790K machine...
Been pretty happy so far. Card number 4 to go in when I get another power cable.
