while researching this, I found the Bush family tree, and it can be traced all the way back to pre 1700! that's kinda cool.

OK, I give up on this thread.

Obviously it took a while for me to realize it was flamebait.

All links provided were to left-wing sources with an agenda.

My bad.

ROFL

WERD to that.

Ok guys, this is a democracy- obviously you all either think
A) its too old to be important B) The Bushs didnt do anything out of the ordinary.

So, in the spirit of democracy, I will yield the floor and say: I guess if you are all in agreement, I must be wrong somehow. I personally found this info kind of shocking when I read it, but maybe I am just too much of an idealist :)

lol... I can be reasonable.

Peace

Yes, well, congratulations for just now stumbling upon historical information that has been public record and well-known for about 45 years. You forget to mention that Prescott Bush was cleared by federal investigators of any wrong-doing or knowingly associating with Nazi's, indeed the Nazi's were very good at COVERTLY infiltrating many corporations and government agencies then exerting influence on them. They performed a similar maneuver on the Paris office of Chase-Manhattan bank, just to name one of many other examples.

On Edit: I mean, I don't want to discourage you from learning about history. But, when you learn something new, before climbing to your nearest roof-top and informing the neighborhood about it, you should ask yourself one question: "Is this really news or is it just news to me?"

If you looked back far enough on anyones family-tree, yuo would see that each family has it's share of idiots. I don't think the Bush-family is an exception.

It's that type of cynical attitude against all politicians that will destroy this great experiment. Not every politician is corrupt and what mistakes a person has made in the past does not define who a person is today. I am concerned that the current generation is so jaded and cynical that they will give up hope on what is still the best system of government that has been found. This form of government takes involvement by it's citizens, not just an attitude of "they are all corrupt so who cares".

If you think something is broke, get involved and help to change it.

<< If you look back, most people weren't even aware of what was going on inside of Germany. >>

Yea, except Prescott Bush wasnt most people dude. He was a senior member of a bank with major holdings in Germany. He also became a US Senator.
>>

How often do people complain about their representatives in Congress having no clue as to what is going on in their own backyard?

Oh the apathy.

This aside, I would think people would be more concerned with the Bush family connections to the Reverend Moon (aka Moonies) which has shown it's face time and time again on the Bush agenda. Most recently, the inaugural prayer luncheon which Bush declared shortly after entering the office last January was bought and paid for by none other than the Reverend Moon. Bush Sr. also gives talks in various countries on behalf of Moon. Moon who has been sought for various crimes around the world and is his own self-appointed "savior" for America and the world and frequently says "Americans are too focused on individualism and that system must be changed" is the one these wealthy, political elites cater to.

That's really scary. Now back to your regularly scheduled program, America.

etech, i can assure you you don't want me fixing the things that i think are broke in this country. i'm doing you all a favor (assuming i had the power to influence significant changes in the first place). see, right there that shows i wouldn't make a good politician... i actually don't want to f people over and i don't do drugs or cheat on my wife either.

Actually, this is a very, very old story that haunted Bush, Sr. for his entire political career (esp. his run for a presidential nomination that was ultimately won by Reagan)-and this was a guy who was a legit war hero in WW II. No sitting out the war in the National Guard for him.

Despite the insinuations above, Prescott Bush was not a dimwit or a monster. He was a very respectable politician whose right wing leanings unfortunately blinded him (and many others of his day) to the extremism of Nazi facism.

I have many concerns about the current Bush, but his grandfather's actions play absolutely no part in those concerns.
