I think the lesson here is that a lot of R voters don't give a shit and choose to remain ignorant. They will never hear about the bullshit. They certainly don't read and seek out truth.

I dont know what the answer is here, but until the Democratic machine understands this andcomes up with a way to inform the masses, we will remain in the slide to the bottom.
With normalcy dead and buried, take Bernie Sanders and place him to your right. Organize around and campaign for policy that would make even him blush. Eat the rich. Occupy Wall Street. Make slogans the common man can rally for. It may not stick at first, but as each of them struggles with the status quo... the LAST thing you want to represent... is more of the same. Go wild, go big. Or go home.

This is all smoke and mirrors. We will see over the next couple of years that this was a dog and pony show by Netanyahu and they will be annexing Gaza and will be in the process of taking over the West Bank in some way as well by that point.

This country is going full fascist. The Dems so far seem incapable of rising up to this moment to at least cause any major delays in that happening. Their leadership is just oblivious on how to handle this. It's like they know nothing about history. It's pathetic. They need to figure this out fast because it's going to happen very fast if they don't wake the hell up.

At this point the only thing that will teach any Americans what MAGA is about is to suffer the consequences of all the money going to the rich and this becoming an autocratic oligarchy. They will learn no other way, and even then only some of them will, but learn they will. The shitty part is all the rest of us actually decent people will have to suffer along with them.

There is no foreign adversary that can or will take down the US via war, which is one of the main ways horrific right wing regimes have been taken down before, so we are likely going to be in this for the long haul - it's going to take a while to fight this from the inside once they install only loyalists to enough positions within the government, from the DOJ to the DOD.

I have no idea what the dumbfuck Dem leadership is thinking that is for sure.

Sounds like the Reagan and Nixon strategies.

Also doesn't change Bibi's plans for the West Bank.
Almost guaranteed that Donny made conflicting assurances to both sides that he'll never be able to keep, not that he intends to either.

"Bibi, keep doing what you're doing. I've got your back, you know that. We have to crush these terrorists."

"Palestinians, I'm with you in an eventual two state solution if you do this for me. (My son-in-law is gonna redevelop the hell out of the beaches of Gaza.)"

- I suspect Trump benefits from the "madman's gambit" that Nixon used a lot when dealing with the Soviet's.

He's cultivated (intentionally or not) such a mercurial persona that other heads of state figure it's better dealing with the certainty of shelving their plans for a couple years than it is dealing with some nutjob with his hand over the big red button.

When a democracy has slid this far, you can’t look to the opposing party as the saviors. Well you can but history will laugh at you. The only people who will be saving us is the Republican Party itself. It wasn’t the Dems that limited Trump the first term and it won’t be the Dems that limit Trump in his second term.

Either way, you are poised to be even more disgusted and disappointed.

I'm not looking for them to save us. Never implied that. I'm looking for them to at least be an opposition party that shows some real fight to help establish at least some lines, and some inspiration for those who need my and will need it. Otherwise it just feels like capitulation. I don't find that healthy. And right now the Dems are failing at everything.

Just saw who will be performing at the inauguration, LOL. Fucking dreadful line-up.

Funny you mention that because I just saw this NPR post on Blue sky and called them out for it. The main NPR account has fallen apart over the last year. Just another failed media source.

Trump’s official presidential portrait just dropped:

Dude literally thinks giving that “alpha male” stare down with the kids-telling-scary-stories-using-flashlight lighting from below makes him look intimidating and strong.

At least in his first portrait he simply looked like a moron. This one... yeah looks like he's out for revenge or something. The uneven eyes are also.....a look

With the mass hysterical love affair high that Trump's voters are firmly entrenched in at the moment, this D listing of acts lined up for the shindig won't matter at all to them. They'll fake their way into hyping things up the same way they deluded themselves into voting for Trump.

"well known" is a wee bit of an overstatement I think. "You may have heard of these people at some point before" is more apt.

One reasons MAGA is still so angry even in victory is that they assumed cultural victory would follow and it's not. They hunger for respect and recognition that they were right which is not forthcoming.

They're never going to get the respect they feel they deserve simply for the fact they completely ignored the overwhelming factual proof that Trump's horrific past performance as POTUS, his total lack of compassion for his fellow human beings, his rap sheet and the fact that being a hopeless narcissist is anathema toward being a leader of whom would place the needs of the people he leads above his own personal desires.

His supporters voted for a racist, a proven self-indulgent buffoon of a man. There's no respecting that, no matter how they try to justify it. In fact, it's what they like about that sex offending tyrant.

That's literally a trope, it's called 'Mad Eye' and it signifies insanity or derangement.
