Remember to check out the T:V guide at the bottom of my first post.

Just tried it, seems pretty cool, but it didn't grab a hold of me and refuse to let go like the Renegades mod for the first Tribes. I think I pulled a 19hr playing session with that one time.

This game gets my respect it deservers for its creativity and uniqueness, the weapons look tremendously exquisite and well made. The graphics and textures look like a general conjunction of Halo and UT2004, really good id say and its bout 100 times better looking than the original Tribes game.

Id buy it fo sho.

Top 3 games in my opinion: UT2004 , Tribes vengeance and Medal of Honor : Pacific Assault

It just doesnt do it for me - im dissapointed 🙁

I was a player of Tribes 1 for a couple of months, then Tribes 2 was amazing at the time and sucked a good 12 months of my life into playing it at a very competitive level in a great clan.

But Vengeance just seems to have gone backwards. I expected advancement on the genre (more players, more vehicles, bigger maps, more variety in weaponry, a workable commander system.

Sadly it seems all they did was make tribes 2 for 3 year olds. The game has less players (typically 16 per server compared to the 32-64 per server of tribes2), the maps if anything seem smaller, obviously the graphics have improved but I would not call them cutting edge, there are less vehicles and most of them are completely useless, weaponry is pretty standard fair, and there is far far far less of a teamplay element.

Guys this is just UT2004 on ski's - I'm bitterly dissapointed as I have been looking forward to this one for a long time. For a good team-based shooter on a grand scale go for JointOps its far superior in everyway (but lacking skiing 😀)

Seeruk - I hear ya man. They've really dumbed down this version unfortunately 🙁 🙁

I miss the massive sprawling bases and huge maps. I too have been looking forward to this game for a very long time and can only hope that it will be improved upon dramatically with mods.

I've bought the last Tribes but didn't spend alot of time with it because I couldn't get my mouse (actually mice) to work with it properly.....the scroll wheel would skip around the weapons....couldn't be sure which one I would get. Anyway, the demo reminded me alot of the last Tribes. Better graphics of course. I could see if you played the last Tribes to death that this wouldn't do much for you. Personally, I thought it was pretty fun. And my mouse wheel worked!

Yea I already read the gamespy review and already have my copy ordered 🙂

I'm glad to hear they took advantage of single player gaming element to not only train players but to make a somewhat enjoyable story. As long as it doesn't hurt the multiplayer, it is always a good thing to see.

It's probably going to be not so effective as a training tool as all the armors and vehicles are so much tougher than in the multiplayer by a factor of about 4x (ie say a Medium armor has 100 hit points in multi, in the single player, at least the demo, the Medium armor characters have about 400 hitpoints) So it seems as if they are definately trying to make a single player experience out of it more so than a training aspect.

Well, I was reading how the missions require skiing / etc. People who enter Tribes multiplayer new don't really understand jetpacks / skiing that well. So if the SP gets you accustomed to the vehicles / skiing / jetpacking / grappling / etc, you end up with a much more knowledge player who won't feel destroyed so badly in multiplayer.

Couple of questions for those who been playing.....how many multiplayer maps are there, how many players are there typically on a server, and are the servers well populated.

I'm trying to get this for under $40 but so far only been able to find Fry's at this price and I don't have have one near me.

Anyone with some answers? I've been playing the demo (which kicks ass) and I'm curious as well.

Nice to see some interest in this game

-The final version will ship with 11 multiplayer maps
-Max is 16 vs 16 on a server; mods will possibly increase the mayhem to 32 vs 32 (with larger maps as well)
-Player base in the demo has been somewhat lackluster (IMO), but I've noticed a big jump from the beta to the *real* multiplayer demo.

I could definitely see the player base being hurt somewhat by the release of cs source. We'll see.

Don't know about that.....seems like they are very different games. I don't like the pace of CS.....it's focus on stealth and its very deliberate nature. Not to mention all the sitting around you got to do when you're fragged. I think they are different audiences....I know I'm not interested in CS.

They're definitely different; I'm not denying that. But CS is hugely popular and there will be at least a limited number of people that choose to purchase CS instead of Tribes. I'm not saying that the Tribes fanbase will be decimated (thats what Tribes 2 was for), but I think it will be affected somewhat. Personally, between Raven Shield (which also suffered somewhat due to the mass popularity of CS), Rome: Total War, and now CS I don't know If I'd play Tribes enough to make it worth the money.

Got the game yesterday and played it pretty much all day......game just fricken rocks. Dabbled a bit in multiplay and was getting my a$$ handed to me (though it was still alot of fun) so I focused on the SP game which also acts somewhat as a tutorial. SP is actually quite good so far. The Tribes vets are complaining that the maps are too small and the game plays too much like UT. It doesn't feel like UT at all to me and I like the smaller maps.....I'm a bit tired of the large-a$$ maps like in BF and Joint Ops where it takes you forever to get somewhere (when you don't have transportation) and then there's a good chance you'll get fragged along the way. I can see there's gonna be a bit of a learning curve to get good but that's part of the fun. If you like MP shooters at all you'all need to DL the demo and give this one a chance

WOW, The Tribes single player is WAY better than I expected. Flashbacks, multiple characters, many unique missions. I'm having a lot of fun.

Has anyone finished the SP yet? I'm at the part where I flashback to being child and there's an explosion I'm trying to escape. Wonder how far I'm at in SP.

Who woulda thought a title known for MP action has such a good SP.......and the storyline is quite good with some meaningful interaction between the NPCs. When I think of SP with good storylines, I think of Half-life and, going way back, Shogo. Most of them are pretty pathetic as far as telling a story.
