I enjoy them for the SFX and action... i could care less about the acting or story plot. After the first one I pretty much understood the brainless action that was to follow in any sequels. So... all you whiners need to STFU. I'm seeing it tonight and greatly looking forward to it!

im predicting that this thread will get more people talking about how bad the movie is by people who haven't even seen it than people who have actually seen it discussing it.

that is the ATOT way.

EDIT:

after reading through the thread, I see it has already begun!!

Never cared much for the story. Only care about the visual effects. I'd like to catch it in IMAX 3D.

Just saw Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Still a big dumb stupid Bay movie but it is sooooo much better than the previous two.

Still too much of the stupid human tricks (less parents thankfully) but the plot of Dark of the Moon is handled better and so is the action.

Bay actually slowed down the action scenes down some so you can tell what it going on and better tell who is who. That helps the 3D.

I'm disappointed that they still didn't do a better job of distinguishing the Decepticons. Still way too much gun metal gray. Can't figure out why the Autobots get distinguishing colors while the Decepticons are pretty much all the same shades of gray and black.

I actually forgot the difference between Soundwave and Shockwave haha. I guess that's what happens when Shockwave isn't a gun anymore. :p

I thought the 3D was pretty lame overall in the movie. Honestly, the 3D used at the end of the Puss and Boots trailer (with the rapier) was far better than anything used in the movie. Well, maybe Starscream's slobber rivals it. :p I'd like to see filmmakers stop using 3D as a cheap foreground/background effect... it does nothing for me.

I liked the IMAX 3D glasses, because they're bigger and fit over your current glasses better.

EDIT:

Oh... probably the best character was whoever Wash from Firefly was playing. :p

Haha. That was Alan Tudyk playing "Dutch". His scene in the Russian bar was hilarious.

I thought the 3D looked pretty cool in the scenes where
Optimus was flying and fighting Shockwave's giant hentai tentacle thingee

That said, the best 3D films I've seen are the animated ones like How to Train Your Dragon. Works so much better than live-action movies for some reason...even if they have CGI action/set pieces.

Hmm in most of the scenes that people mention for 3D, I didn't even notice 3D. I'm so accustomed to noticing when things fly out at me and such, but not so much subtle things. Like when people talk about Avatar's 3D... all I can remember is some grass and some wavy hands.

Which is good. I just came back from the movie as well. The 3D is really well done and its similar to Avatar where it puts you into the scene instead of random shit flying at you ala Resident Evil was.

Maybe its because I had really low expectations but I thought this movie was awesome. There were few stupid comedy relief scenes like the second movie and everything played well into the story. There was actually a decent story and I didnt see "that turn" coming at all. The final fight scene was much better and showed his strength unlike Revenge of the Fallen where the entire movie built him up and then he died in two seconds.

That was one thing I forgot to mention. There is none of the absolute moronic stuff from the previous two films. No leg-humping robots, no dogs humping other dogs, no Skids and Mudflaps, nothing like Bumblebee taking a leak on Simmons. It comes close a couple of times but doesn't seem to cross that line.

Bay has 5 years to made 3 transformers' movies, and he still can't make a distinguish colors for the Decepticons. At least make Megatron white.

One thing that always surprises me a bit is how some girls are huge fans of the Transformer movies. I was actually sitting next to three... maybe 20 year-old girls and they seemed to be more into the movie than I was. :p I heard one whisper to the other (kinda hard to whisper quietly with the super loud IMAX speakers) "Oh.. oh it's Optimus!"

The one thing that would have made me cheer would have been Grimlock! Me, aikouka, miss Dinobots!

Which is good. I just came back from the movie as well. The 3D is really well done and its similar to Avatar where it puts you into the scene instead of random shit flying at you ala Resident Evil was.

I think I actually prefer the "coming at you" stuff more than just creating a foreground and background. The reason is that... our mind already discerns foreground and background based on perceived depth. So it makes me think... what am I actually gaining?

Now, as I mentioned, I thought the glasses were a lot nicer than the Real3D ones, which are uncomfortable as all hell since I already wear glasses.

The final fight scene was much better and showed his strength unlike Revenge of the Fallen where the entire movie built him up and then he died in two seconds.

I thought the story was decent, although it took fooooorever for them to do things, and it looks like certain action scenes were merely in there just to show off action. But they probably needed more action, because of how many scenes of just talking there were.

I also thought the movie could have used a bit more emotional tension. The only scene I can recall like that was
when Soundwave was about to kill Bumblebee while Sam and Eyecandy watched.

Maybe most people aren't like me and enjoy being brought into a movie through tension (which can also be created through simply using dramatic music like in Inception).

EDIT:

Also, did I miss the scene where
Bumblebee got captured? If I remember correctly, he saved Sam and Macho Army Guy after they killed Starscream, and then he was suddenly captured 5 minutes later.

WTF, they gave Megatron a cape and chains?

will there be a TF4? should we stay for after the credits?

No, there won't be a TF4. At least not from Bay and LeBeouf. They are both done with the series.

If there is another Transformers series, it would have to be a reboot because the Decepticons are pretty much wiped out by the end.

loved it. thought it was awesome. lots of action slowed down to slow-motion so you could distinguish one giant metallic robot from another. just enough plot for me to say there was a plot.

and, of course, good robot-fighting action.

did i mention the action scenes with the robots fighting each other?

ps - robots fighting is awesome

1st one was good, fun, enjoyable.
2nd one was deafening boom fest with stupid humor and a non-existent plot.
3rd one I'll reserve judgement. The critics are giving it low ratings, but not as low as transformers 2 and I've disagreed with old artistic farts before.

I knew Megatron, Shockwave, Soundwave, and Starscream. Other than that I had no idea but then again I didnt grow up with G1 in the first place.

i could tell them apart when they were just standing around chatting but when they were mixing it up i found it difficult.
